Fortson
Any interest in acquiring him from the mavs? You could probably get him cheap, and he fills a definite need. He's a beast on the boards and an enforcer on the court who won't take away touches from other players.

I don't think so. First off, getting Fortson will cause a logjam among the PFs'. Second, J-Will is not worth Fortson and little used Stefansson.

If Fortson was 4 inches taller he would not be going anywhere. In
that case he would be the Mavs starting Center.
He is what he is and that is a big body and a fantastic rebounder.
Personally I think Nelson completely misuses him for the Mavs. He
does not get any playing time despite the fact that everytime he
goes in the game he plays well.
He just does not fit into Nellie's uptempo style and he is not a good
shooter from outside 12-15 ft so Nelson does not like that.
If he is supposedly a poor defender as some claim than I just have
not seen it. He has done a decent job on the defensive end for
the Mavs whenever given a chance.
Anyway I think if he is given a chance to play he is a good player.

Yeah, but don't think that I didn't already know that. My post wasn't something that needed to be taken as seriously as it was taken.

I'll agree that he's a wide body and a fantastic rebounder. And that's it. You can't have Danny Fortson on the court for any team because he's a rebounder and that's literally all he does well. His offensive ability and defensive abilities are so below the charts that you need a shovel to dig for them. It would be okay if he was seven feet tall, but the fact is that he's closer to 6'7 than 6'8. No matter how good a rebounder a player is, you can't have him on the court for significant periods of time if he's as lousy in every other category as Danny Fortson.
If Nellie misused him, the the coaching staff in Golden State must have misused him as well. As did the coaching staffs in Boston. There's a reason why Danny Fortson hasn't been successful with any team he's been with, and it's because he's a loser who can't do more than one thing well on the court and has a pretty sour attitude to boot. That combination never helps the team cause.

See my above paragraph. Fortson is a terrible offensive player who gets almost 100% of his points on putbacks. Ben Wallace is a better jump shooter.

I've never seen a player with the ability to use his feet to box out like Fortson has look so clueless on how to move his feet in the post on the offensive end and when defending another player. He's just not very good.
Like I said, if Fortson was taller, we'd be able to use him, just like any other team would be able to use him. As it is, we already have Swift, Cardinal and Outlaw...all of which are better than Fortson. Dallas tried using him as a center some of the time last year, and it didn't work out well. PFs can shoot right over him, so centers normally have no problem at all. His height is just one of his many limitations out on the court. Memphis wouldn't be able to use him at PF just because of our depth at the position, and he's proved he can't play center.
So why trade our starting PG for him?

I think a big portion of orster IE. swift and others are leaving for Damp. So you need a guy who can pull down the boards and enforce the paint while Posey and Miller score the points.
Furthermore, did you remmemberJwill last playoff series, I do. I was disappointed.

I do remember Jason Williams in the playoffs, and he was pretty bad. But do you remember Danny Fortson in the playoffs?
If you don't, then I think I know the reason why.

I was referring to the fact that Fortson got 5 DNP-CD's in the playoffs.

I was referring to the fact that that incident cost him his starting position and minutes. Where did Nash end up again?

Yamahama it's fright night! (From Seinfeld, if you don't understand it, laugh anyway)
If Jerry West trades Jason Williams for Danny Fortson to go along with signing Cardinal to a large deal, I'll be ready to start laughing at the Memphis Grizzlies franchise.

Why?
You really think Jwill can bring more value?
You really think Jwill and Pau are gonna co-exist?
You think Jwill is gonna lead them thorugh the playoffs?
He's set to make 23 mil over the next 3 years, if you don't like fortson you can get rid of him after next season.
He's the enforcer you guys need, the rebounder that would help, and a 6 fouls to throw against TD or Shaq if you see him in the finals. He's also not a liability from the line.
Memphis isn't a strong rebounding team, this guy gut almost 5 a game in 11 mpg. That's pretty fantastic.
Steffanson is also a good scorer so he adds that to Memphis who can use more perimeter scoring.
Dallas needs a pointguard, there are none left. Daniels shoots way to much to even think about leaving him out there 30+ and Harris is far from ready.
I see this as win, win, getting rid of two undesirables. I think people are just afraid of change.
