Official Memphis @ Indiana Game Thread (2/13/05)

Sorry, no graphics tonight.

Along with Pau and Posey hurt, JWill is apparently out, and Stromile hyperextended his knee two nights ago. Earl Watson and Bonzi Wells are also overcoming injuries.

Is there a more banged-up team in the league?

39 to 44 in favor of Indiana at the half.

Its been an ugly game to watch.

Lorenzen is still playing well. He already has 8 points and 7 rebounds.

This sounded like a stinker.

I listened to all but the last six minutes in my car on the way back to MSU, until the radio started breaking up in Tupelo.

Jeff Foster really showed why he is arguably the most underrated player in the NBA tonight. Eleven offensive rebounds? Yee. Having Pau would have helped out against a guy like Foster, who's averaging about four off. rebs per game as it is.

Sounded like Ron Garretson wouldn't give us a single call in the first half and just swallowed his whistle too much. From what Pranica was saying, neither team was getting many calls, but we were having a rough go of it with the officials.

All in all, not a bad effort from a team missing as much as we are. It's good to see Lorenzen playing well. He's actually getting his season numbers back to something respectable after a terrible start to the season. And it looks like we did a masterful job of keeping JO in check. The problem was the Pacers getting hot from the outside (unusual) and Foster getting them a ton of second-chance opportunities.

Foster is pretty one-dimensional, but he's the only good rebounder on the Pacers. He's relentless and I love him. He struggles against strong physical players, but against teams with weak frontlines like the injury-depleted Grizzlies, he dominates the offensive glass. No doubt he wouldn't have played as well if Gasol had been in the game.

He's only one-dimensional because he knows his role. He can actually be a decent scorer and last night had a few good blocks.

Scot Pollard begs to differ.

Anyway, nice effort by the Grizz. They were obviously hurting from their injuries, but even Swift played well injured; it was a treat to see him play.
