Memphis trades: Stromile Swift/Mike Miller/Brian Cardinal/Dahntay Jones
Memphis recieves: Kenyon Martin/Ruben Patterson/JR Smith
Denver trades: Kenyon Martin/Ruben Patterson
Denver gets: Stromile Swift/Brian Cardinal/Mike Miller
New Orleans trades: JR Smith
New Orleans gets: Dahntay Jones
Why Memphis does it: Memphis gets, if healthy, a physical presence on the interior that thrives in the up and down game Jerry West vows Memphis will be playing this season. Ruben Patterson provides similar with the bonus of his expiring contract. JR Smith adds athleticism and provides some of the range lost with Mike Miller and he will have a 1 year apprenticeship under Eddie Jones.
Why Denver does it: Denver gets out from under K Mart and picks up that coveted SG in the process. Swift provides some of what K Mart gave minus the toughness. Cardinal is a tough scrapper who is a 100% team players.
Why New Orleans does it: Byron Scott gets something for JR Smith who it seems he would dump for potato chips right now.
