Returning Grizzlies (regarding Gay-Battier trade)
Houston management has kept their lips sealed about the deal, while Jerry West cannot contain his excitement. So talk here has been more about losing Rudy Gay than the actual trade, or whether it's possible Houston got more than Battier.
Have there been any indications or slip ups in Memphis about Houston getting more than Battier in this deal? Has Jerry West genuinely talked about having Dahntay Jones or Kyle Lowry on the roster next season? Is Houston throwing in another first rounder just for kicks?

"He's 7-6, turning and fading. You want a guy to turn out, unfortunately he was hitting the shot," Brown said. "What could I do? I had a hand up. I was, '(Man), another one.' Now I know what it's like when guys play against Kobe (Bryant)."--- Kwame Brown on Yao's 16-25 shooting performance

West was almost giddy on draft night over getting Lowry, so I'm expecting him to stay.
Other than that, I haven't heard who will and won't be back (other than Bobby Jackson, of course), but all indications around Memphis are that the trade will go down as is.

We can only hope.

Re: Returning Grizzlies (regarding Gay-Battier trade)
Players that have been specifically mentioned as having roles this season: Rudy Gay, Pau Gasol, Kyle Lowry, Damon Stoudamire, Anthony Roberson, Hakim Warrick, Stromile Swift, Lawrence Roberts, and Mike Miller.
Players that were not mentioned by Jerry West: Jake Tsakalidis, Dahntay Jones, Eddie Jones, Brian Cardinal.
I am guessing that Eddie and Jake's expiring deals will be turned over for some talent and it is extension or not time for Dahntay Jones...I am thinking not but his skills fit the direction of the team.

does this mean that FAs might see memphis as a contender and be more likely to sign with the grizzlies? Or are the grizzlies still a joke?

Well, we're still not on a coastline. I've never seen Memphis as a big "marquee free agent hot spot." Who's Memphis' biggest free agent signing since the Vancouver move? James Posey?

They play Dallas tomorrow at 7:15.
Schedule
This is the same Mavs team that they already beat by 30. I'm also anxious to see how much he can put up against guys who can't start over Marcellus Sommerville.
