The Los Angeles Lakers saw plenty on Saturday.

Roberts, a second-year forward out of Mississippi State, scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Grizzlies won their summer league opener, 89-87, in Long Beach, Calif.

Roberts went 13-of-14 from the free-throw line, as the Griz outscored the Lakers, 33-25, from the charity stripe.

Junior Harrington scored 15 points for the Grizzlies, while Anthony Roberson chipped in with 12. Greek center Andreas Glyniadakis had 10 rebounds as the Griz won the battle on the glass, 43-36.

The Lakers had four players score in double figures, led by Jordan Farmar.

The rookie guard from UCLA, the team's first-round pick in last month's draft, scored 17 points and dished out three assists, with no turnovers.

Jerry West has basically laid down the law, saying that Roberts needs to have a more prominent role next season. He put up numbers exactly like this last summer and in the NBDL last year. He's a bear of a rebounder and should be very helpful.

It's guys like Roberts that make me want to shy away from guys like Reggie Evans. Roberts can at least do more than rebound, and we have him cheap right now. Use him.
