Grizzlies Waive Guard Anthony Roberson
"Memphis, Tennessee, July 25, 2006 — Memphis Grizzlies President of Basketball Operations Jerry West announced today that the team has waived guard Anthony Roberson.
Roberson appeared in 16 games, averaging 2.2 points, 0.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 5.5 minutes per game. He was signed as a free agent on Aug. 18, 2005. The 6-2, 180-guard most recently played six games with the Grizzlies in the Long Beach Summer Pro League, averaging 9.0 points, 1.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists.
“We really appreciate Anthony’s effort and professionalism this past year,” said West. “He is a very talented guard with a bright future in professional basketball, and we wish him the very best.” "

Re: Grizzlies Waive Guard Anthony Roberson
Again and again... We should have throwed him with Stro to Washington for Etan!
Aside of that, good luck Roberson.
About a cheap guard, why not try Dajuan Wagner? He is from Memphis and was a lottery pick. Why not try him for the minimum?

Re: Grizzlies Waive Guard Anthony Roberson
Not all that surprising considering what a lousy summer league he had. I figured we'd keep him around at least until the start of training camp though. This couldn't have been that tough of a decision, but [message board fan cliche] this creates an extra roster spot. Could there be a trade forthcoming? [/cliche]
Good luck, Roberson.

Etan Thomas would be great if he was earning half what he's making right now. Just because you want to trade Stro for Etan doesn't mean you should be discussing it as if it is/was a legit rumor. There's no foundation for that trade out there.

Nah, no more crusty, on-their-last-legs, shoot-first point guards. I like the direction this team is heading with the newfound youth and athleticism. Resigning Chucky or adding Delk will only hinder guys like Lowry and even further hinder guys like Dahntay Jones. Neither one of them can win us a playoff game, so I'd just as soon not even look their direction.
And Jay Williams is done, IMO. It's enough of a feel-good story that he's even able to walk, let alone play pick-up basketball. Anyone who thinks he's going to come back to the league and play at the same level he was playing at (or do even better) is expecting too much.

Re: Grizzlies Waive Guard Anthony Roberson
When Jay Williams didn't suit up for summer league, I figured it was over for him. Jerry West practically said a dealwas forthcoming but per Grizzlies policy everything is locked down tighter than a frog's ***.
My personal favorite for PG is Luke Ridnour especially since it seems that the early enthusiasm for Damon's return is being tempered now.

I was (and still will) talking about this because I really wanted him to be moved with Stro (and I really want Etan for Stro), with no intentions to act like it was a legit rumor...
