Re: Game 27: Grizzlies @ Hornets - 12/22/06
I decided last week or so that if Fratello doesn't care, then why should I care?
Gasol is God. The guy's not even back to game shape yet. Dominating performance tonight. It's just too bad his supporting cast is ***. Brian Cardinal was just mind-numbingly stupid on our second-to-last possession in regulation before Pau bailed everyone out. He goes up for a putback with 15 seconds left when he could have reset, THEN he complains to the official and lets Chris Paul blow by him and leave Damon "No Knee Joints" Stoudamire to his own devices, which were to just push CP3 and then concede the go-ahead basket.
I thought for sure we lost the game right there, but somehow Gasol got matched up against Linton Johnson on that final play of the fourth.
Got destroyed on the boards, but I guess that's what happens when BC and Pau is the frontcourt of choice. Alexander Johnson finally had a sub-par game. Warrick is getting Rudy Gay minutes now, but he wouldn't have helped rebound anyway.
I'm not sure how many low-percentage shots New Orleans/OKC took tonight, but it sure seemed like they were hitting any old crap they heaved up. It didn't help that we never, ever showed on those Marc Jackson pick-and-pops. That got ridiculous after about the sixth or seventh time.
All things considered though, if Fratello leaves Gasol in the two extra minutes in OT, we win. This is shameless tanking (which is fine, since this season is lost). We're obviously going for as many ping-pong balls as possible if Czar and "the team doctors" are going to be that pig-headed with Gasol's playing time.
