Insider Article Sheds Light on Grizz Rotation...
This exert from a recent ESPN Insider article, has gone a long way to alleviate my concerns with playing time distributions at our Swing positions.
Turns out the Hubie Plans on Playing Miller at the 2 and Battier/Posey at the 3.
This rotation is much better than the original projection which had Posey at the 2 and Miller/Battier sharing time at the 3. Now Miller can easily get 35+ mpg and Shane/Posy can easily get 25 each.
Person likely will play a lot less this year but with Shane, Miller, and J-Will all good from 3-point range it won't matter.
Here is some of the article:
Edit- That was great info, but posting articles without a link violates copyrights (especially articles from Insider) and the guidelines of the site.

Hey Tula,
Refresh my memory on how we should best handle referencing insider articles?
What I posted was an exert from the Insider not the whole article, if I posted the link would it have made a difference?
You can PM me an answer if you like.
Take Care.

Potatoe, I was going to pm you the answer, but I decided to post it here since most people don't know all the info about posting articles.
It is technically illegal to post any copyrighted material without giving credit to the source. In other words, when posting an article always remember to provide a link. Since ESPN Insider requires a payment to subscribe, its not possible to actually link to the source. For that reason, Insider articles can't be posted on basketballboards.net at all because legal action could be taken against the site.
Hope that helped.
Also, even when quoting only a small portion of an article, a link should still be provided.

I will say this from what I have seen in the early practices. Posey may start but Battier will get the starter minutes. Battier looks rock solid and his stroke is even better than last year. I think the big guy to get lost in the shuffle is going to be Lorenzen Wright. I think Big Jake will start early and Swift will play 30+ minutes most with Gasol.
Predicted rotation:
Starters:
PG JWill 30 minutes
SG James Posey 20 minutes
SF Mike Miller 35 minutes
PF Pau Gasol 35 minutes
C Big Jake 12 minutes
Bench:
Earl Watson 20 minutes
Shane Battier 30 minutes
Stro Swift 32 minutes
Lorenzen Wright 18 minutes
Wes Person 18 minutes
End of bench Troy Bell, Bo Outlaw
IR Dahntay Jones, Theron Smith, Ryan Humphrey
Retirement Mike D.
Do not be surprised if Wes Person is traded before the opening tip.

That's 250 minutes...did you mean 8 minutes for Person, instead of 18?
I do agree that it's unlikely that Person plays another regular season game for Memphis.

I posted my minutes distribution in another thread, using the standard RobyG format. Here's my take on it.
PG Jason Williams (32mpg)
SG James Posey (28mpg)
SF Mike Miller (32mpg)
PF Pau Gasol (40mpg)
C Jake Tsakalidis (20mpg)
Bench: Shane Battier (28mpg), Stromile Swift (28mpg), Earl Watson (16mpg), Lorenzen Wright (8mpg), Wesley Person (8mpg)
End of the bench (No PT): Troy Bell, Bo Outlaw
IR: Michael Dickerson, Dahntay Jones, Ryan Humphrey
Here's how it could look by the end of the season (assuming no more trades):
PG Jason Williams (32mpg)
SG James Posey (28mpg)
SF Mike Miller (36mpg)
PF Pau Gasol (40mpg)
C Jake Tsakalidis (20mpg)
Bench: Stromile Swift (28mpg), Shane Batter (24mpg), Earl Watson (16mpg), Troy Bell (8mpg), Lorenzen Wright (8mpg)
End of the bench (No PT): Wesley Person, Bo Outlaw
IR: (Same)
This is assuming Troy Bell performs as well as West is expecting to have drafted him at #16. If he exceeds expectations, I can see him becoming the scoring "spark" off the bench at the 2, essentially swapping spots with Person. He would get 8 minutes at SG, since I feel that Watson can handle the point for 16 mpg. Bell seems more in the Dajuan Wagner mold of SGs anyways.
Stro would round out the minutes at PF, then play 20 at the "C" position. Big Jake isn't exactly a run-and-gun-type center, and I'm questioning his back right now, so I think 20 minutes for him is perfect. All we need from Jake is for him to fill the lane up for about 10 possessions/game, and he's earned his check.
Battier would get the remaining 12 minutes at SF, and play 12 minutes at SG when necessary. I see Miller playing more mpg(hopefully over his injuries) down the stretch.
Watson gets 16/game, all at point, obviously. Wright picks up the remaining center minutes when we're playing teams with a glut of big men. 8mpg isn't unreasonable, and we're not going to sit him completely with that big, long contract we're paying him.
Person switches with Bell, and I doubt we see him in a Grizz uniform next year, since we need Jones ( ) to come along. That is, if the Bobcats don't pick him up, because I don't see how we're going to protect Dahntay...
Outlaw's just there for whenever. He's a real professional, and I don't see him complaining about never playing. With Pau/Stro and our plethora of reserve SFs, I can't find a way to get him minutes. A ten-man rotation is large enough as it is (although Bell/Person and Wright will only be getting garbage minutes).
