I think were all forgetting about Micheal Dickerson and his effect on this team once he gets healthy again. The man can play flat out, but we havent seen it for 2 years so it is kind of a mystery out of him. I'm thinkin that he will be the backup once he comes back though. I don't know though, because Jones has something about his play that just makes me want to watch him succeed. He's gonna be special soon enough. Jones is a talent.

I don't think we're exactly forgetting about Dickerson. Its just that he's never going to play again. He has reinjured his groin in training camp (he only managed to practice 30 minutes for the entire training camp). He's not even in Memphis anymore. He's already back home in Seattle. Its too bad, a freak accident really. You never hear about a basketball player suffering from a sports hernia, it usually occurs in a sport like soccer. Its an injury that rarely ever heals.

Ohh sorry, if I would of knew about that I wouldn't had even said anything. I was under the impression that he would be ready for the regular season. I thought they were just resting him to be careful or something. Are you sure that he is completely down for the season? If that is true, it is a real shame because Dickerson could have been a good one out there.
Oh welll, more pt for Jones then.

They were actually reporting that he was running and dunking during the summer. And now he can't even do drills for 30 minutes. It is a shame. Mike D was a solid 18 ppg kind of guy. I personally won't believe he's healthy or retiring until I see it for myself.
Have you caught any summer league games? So far Dahntay Jones has been getting basically all of the backup sg minutes, not sure what will happen when/if Wesley Person returns. I've been impressed. Troy Bell is getting zero playing time however.

I haven't caught any games with my own eyes, but I have heard them on the Grizzlies radio. Seems like the analysts like how Dahntay is progresses as well as others do. Plus I catch the highlights on real-one superpass. Otherwise I just observe the stats for the games.

Yeahh I agree, thats why i'm very skeptical about these ideas about Troy Bell being a starter by mid-season. If he is that good then why isn't he getting playing time now

I think thinking either of Jones or Bell can push for starting spot is way too optimistic. Bell will be lucky to get minutes, heck, ever become backup pg. Watson is no scrub. As for Jones, he's playing at the team's deepest position right now. I see him in a similar situation as something like Gerald Wallace. He'll get some minutes, but not a lot.

Just an outsiders opinion here...
Jones and Bell were not drafted to sit on the bench, as Jerry doesn't like to be proven wrong. That aside, I also think you guys are absolutely logjammed at the 2/3 position even with Dickerson probably being done.
I absolutely feel you guys will ship Wesley Person off to someone before the trading deadline. For what? Who knows.
Secondly, I also think you guys will package either Miller, Battier or Posey next offseason along with your pick/future picks and filler to attempt to land a top tier PF or C. As good as he is, I do not see Stromile being a long term viable option for you at center. I think this is even more of a possibility since I see this upcoming draft the year of the SG/SF, which obviously would help you little if you guys had a higher pick.
I may be way off here, but that's my take.

If all goes well this season then I would say no to all of this. But if it is a complete failure (which I don't think will happen) then there is no reason why the Grizz couldn't do that. I don't think Mr. West would be willing to sacrifice all those players just to get one. He's in for the winning now and not later.

Are you serious? The moves I proposed would significantly help your squad. Playing the in the West and in order to win frequently in the West, you need 2-3 quality big men.
Having a glutton of SGs and SFs will get you nowhere.

Then enjoy not making the playoffs anytime soon, or at least until all of the good bigmen get old. You don't win in the West with guardplay.. the East, now that is a different story.

I agree. The Grizzlies need quality bodies behind Gasol. If they somehow could acquire a better center than Big Jake they would be in even better shape, because LoWright is a PF not a center.

They are creating new divisions next year. 3 in the east. 3 in the west. Memphis might be moved to the Eastern conference and while getting a center is important, it is not necessary at this point in time. Now who would you propose we give up? Which center do you think we should go after? As you all know if a team wants to get a top-tier center, then there going to have to give up a hell-of-va lot of players. Jerry West is opposed to giving up draft picks as I should note too. You find great talent in there and Jerry covets the draft.
