Stromile Swift Interview (HoopsHype.com) (10-13-03).

How big of a possibility do you think is for the Memphis Grizzlies to play the postseason?

SS: If we improve our offensive and defensive rebound, I think we will make the playoffs this time.

I don't think he has to worry about not getting any playing time. As it appears that he will be the starting center for the majority of the games, except with big, bruiser centers, then Big Jake should start. Jerry and Hubie have been raving about how improved Stro is. But I'm not too sure that he'll get a contract extension soon. He'll probably have to play out the season. It seems like the Grizzlies are really trying boost his confidence. Before the tipoff at the Wizards game last night, they showed a long highlight clip of some of his dunks and blocks.

I think giving him an extension would be wise. It would boost his confidence, and now with KG off the market, he will have added value on the FA market.

I recall how he was a considered to be the bust of the 3 (Martin and Miles included)... but he had turned it around last season after Gooden was traded. I'm sure you'd regret not giving it to him. A bunch of teams will have cap next season and the season after. Won't Utah certainly go after him?

I'd love to give Martin an extension (From the Nets) but his asking price is a bit high, I think at this time Swift can still be signed reasonably... no?
