Battier's playing time?

I've been watching the Grizzlies games on DirecTV whenever I have a chance and I've been puzzled at Brown's substitution patterns.

There have been several games this year where Battier matched or surpassed Miller's production, despite having much fewer minutes.

I know Miller is regaining his stroke but something bothers me. For the first 2 or 3 weeks, the assumption is "He'll snap out of the slump." I'm glad they had faith in Miller and it's nice.

But to Battier, even when a guy is struggling, he's having a hard time getting 20+ minutes. Granted, the team is seriously stacked at the 2-3. But I think Battier at times is simply playing better basketball than Miller, who starts over him.

Am I alone in thinking this? And in no shape, manner or form, am I bashin Mike Miller. I love his game and I'm simply being honest.

Mike Miller isn't starting over Battier. They're not even playing the same position, even though Shane can technically play the one thru four, as shown by the one man/four positions commercial. Miller is our starting two. And he's been playing well. James Posey is starting over Shane.

Battier is averaging 24 minutes per game this season. And he's probably going to be back into the starting lineup, whenever Posey decides that he needs to have surgery.

I hope Battier does well because coming off the bench bothers me. I went to www.nba.com and Battier has a higher efficiency rating than either Miller or Posey. Meaning Battier accomplishes the same as both players in less time. It would be one thing if the starters were clearly outproducing Shane but they are not (at his position). I know the old "bench spark" argument but I know Shane would start on most other teams. So I hope he does well with this "chance" he'll get when Posey steps out.

well, i never liked the idea of signing Posey for 6 mils. that's 6 mils we could have saved. but since we've signed him, might as well play him. he's decent. certainly not better than battier.

It's been ten years, and I say if Michael Jordan chose to still play the game of basketball, he'd dominate.
