I made a suggestion on another thread that the grizzlies will not make the playoffs. But I have to say that I think this team will make the playoffs if we come to terms with what we have and start using our assests to the best of our ability.

Jason, with all of his playmaking ability is not the answer at point. He basically passes and shoots a lot of threes.

I firmly believe that the lineup that will help us make it into the playoffs is as follows:


Miller
Wells
Posey
Gasol
Ratliff(made from a trade with atlanta involving Swift and some other throw in players)

I not sure who to throw in but I think picking up Ratliff would be a huge acquisition. I also like "Z" in Cleveland to play center. But both players are injury prone. I just don't like the feet of "Z". And I do like the defensive prowess of Ratliff. Both players do have expiring contracts after next year.

And last but not least, I believe that people value Battier too much and want too much in return for him. That guy is a great guy in the community and he is a great ambassador for the team but I also believe that talent wise he is over valued. The guy has had many opportunities to show what he could do in the last few years. I belive, like Miller, Battier passes up shots in order to try and get a better one. Sometimes players have to be selfish. I've never been a Bonzi fan but the guy doesn't pass up shots and that's what you need from the shooting guard spot.

Something has to happen. The team shouldn't make trades just because they're in the midst of a losing streak. But I believe we should make some things happen with trades. If the team keeps Gasol then the team needs a defensive minded center. If Gasol is not the guy then the team needs a defensive minded powerforward and an offensive minded center. Either way the team has to make changes.

I like the idea of having Bonzi in the starting lineup. He would really bring some much needed toughness to that unit, which it is obviously lacking.


I disagree about Battier though. There isn't a team in the league that wouldn't love to have him. He is the perfect sixth man, and we need to keep him unless it is in a package for a big-name player. Guys like Shane don't come around often.

Why can't we just have patience? This team is way ahead of schedule in development.

I agree with this. I believe most ppl just thought we'd just improve by several games or something. I was extremely optimistic and predicted that we'd make the playoffs this year. Who would have thought they'd be competing likes this. They actually have a very good shot at making the playoffs.
