I must say that I used to be admanant that Gasol is the future of this franchise, but I think it is high time to get rid of him now.
The guy just has a couple moves that he does with his back facing the basket, and when he is being defended by the smarter and stronger power forwards, there is nothing he can do. Everytime he does his move, it seems like a real slow motion sequence, where the defender gets all the time in the world to see what he is doing.
What I dont like is that when he is in the game, often the offense flows through him, but he is not taking up that challenge. Maybe we need an upgrade over him, but there aren't any skilled and available power forwards that I can think of. Guys like Elton Brand, Tim Duncan, Jermaine Oneal or Zach Randolph are the ones that we would desire, but unfortunately there is nothing out there.
The other problem is that the management might now be worried about giving away that first round pick to Portland and might try to get one back in the form of some other trade.
With the recent Earl Watson lash, I wont be surprised if either he or Troy Bell along with Ryan Humphrey were traded for garbage and a first round pick or something.
