Will the grizz stay put at the deadline?

I think there is one move that might happen. The grizz might trade Stro. They did not pick up his option for next year, so he would have been a RFA next season anyways. That means they might be better of trading him now and getting something in return for him. Let me know what you think.

I don't expect a trade, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if a move was made. Our interior defense and lack of rebounding is still a glaring issue.

And I've thought the Grizzlies would trade Stromile for a couple of years now.

The most recent thing I've heard is that Seattle is interested in Stro.

I hope Seattle wants to send back Ray Allen. There is nobody else on that roster we can use.

I doubt we make a move unless a monster in the post becomes available.

Stro will be traded probably, with one of the rookies and maybe Tsakalidis...

Jerry West has said that he will make a trade at any time that ungrade the squad. I don't thin that he will make a trade unless right now unless it is for a center. And it would have to be Dampier or a card that could get us Dampier later.

As for Stro, I think that his inconsistence and the expansion draft are the reasons that he wasn't offered a new contract. Only eight players can be protected from the expansion draft. Depth is the Grizzlies strength. I think he will wait until an offer is made and match the offer like the Clippers did. Then, trade him next December or at the end of next season.

i don't think Stro will be traded by the deadline, and i think he will be one of the players we protect. i'm not saying he's in the club's long term plans, but i think it makes sense to protect Stro for the exp. draft.

why would stro be protected. if i am not mistaken, even if we leave him unprotected, he will still be a rfa with the bobcats. at that point any team can get him. so i dont think it makes any sense to protect him.

I don't the Grizz will be making a big trade before the deadline. A deal with Seattle doesn't make to much sense to me, because I don't know what we have that Memphis would want. You certainly don't need another guard, which is what we have surplus of. The main trade bait that we have is Flip Murray and Brent Barry, and I don't see how they fit in with Memphis. Seattle wants Stromile, but what could we give you guys in return for him? I presume you'd want a Center, but would Jerome James/Calvin Booth/Vitali Potapenko really entice you? I'd say it'd be worth it from a Sonics point of view to give up our 1st rounder this year for Swift. What do you think?

All week I will be posting updates on what is happening around the NBA. What my sources are telling me, what moves are likely to be made and what all the talk is about.

Here is the word as of Monday afternoon.

According to people in the league the most active teams are as follows: Boston, Detroit, Golden State, Indiana, Toronto, Memphis and the Sonics.

Detroit is trying to clear cap space so that they don’t lose Okur in the off-season when he becomes a restricted free agent. Golden State may be willing to move Erick Dampier, but are you willing to bank on him after just one good season after numerous terrible ones. Indiana has some interesting prospects in Jonathan Bnder and an bad contract that goes along with Austin Croshere.

All indicators have the Sonics as actively discussing deals with numerous teams. The word is that the Sonics are making a ton of calls to find out who is available and what teams are looking for.

It is clear that the Sonics are willing to move Flip Murray, Vlady Radmanovic, Brent Barry and any of their big men.

Teams have interest in Flip Murray. According to sources, one team that is very interested is the Denver Nuggets. They have had initial conversations with the Sonics about Murray.

Keep checking Lockedonsports.com throughout the week and I will be posting all the latest rumors and news.

Make what you want of this. I'm not very familiar with the guy that wrote the article. Maybe a Seattle local knows more about him.

you just demonstrated why - any team could get him and we wouldn't have gotten anything in return. first of all, the restricted label is dropped and he'd be just a free agent if the bobcats took him. Stro has very good trade value; under my scenario we could get something for him, under yours we wouldn't.

My thoughts are, Eric Dampier will be a Grizzly after the deadline. Also, Shane Battier and Stromille Swift will be also.

Also, their roster will be set for the remainder of the season by 2 p.m. CST when teams are no longer permitted to make deals.

Don't be surprised if the Grizzlies stand pat. Their pursuit of Golden State center Erick Dampier had proven futile as of Wednesday evening.

The Warriors, who are notorious for waffling on trades, have laid out to suitors a steep asking price for Dampier.

But circumstances change, and some teams tend to panic as the deadline draws near. So a Grizzly deal isn't totally out of the question.

Rebounding and interior defense are weaknesses even though the Griz are making a serious playoff push.

Despite averaging 11.9 points and 11.6 rebounds, Dampier is available because the Warriors are concerned that he will exercise an opt-out clause and forgo two seasons (and $17 million) to become a free agent this summer.

Reportedly, Memphis is competing with Indiana and New York for Dampier's services. Griz president Jerry West declined an interview request by The Commercial Appeal.
