Grizzlies-Warriors, maybe the Knicks

Memphis is not out of the race for Golden State center Erick Dampier. But to win the race, it appears the Grizzlies have to be willing to trade swingman Shane Battier.

I still dont know, Swift is finally coming into his own and Shane is the one of the best pure hustle guys in the league. With that said Dampier would bring much needed size and rebounding to a somewhat soft squad.


I dont think it will happen but you never know with the other JDub(JWest).

I don't think Dampier is worth both Stro and Shane. The trade would eliminate our strength, depth. Shane's work ethnic in games and in practice and his leadership by example are too valuable as well.

With Mike Miller likely out for awhile, I don't know if we can afford to move Shane.

There is a lot of interest league wide in Stromille Swift. Trust me if we deal Stro and Shane for Dampier, J Rich or Dunleavy are coming back to Memphis. I think we are almost to the point that we would have to have a terrible collapse not to make the playoffs and Jerry West is still interested in building for a championship. Stro and Battier for Curry I could stomach, doing it for Dampier only would make me sick.

I am not even sure that Dampier is as good as Swift

Yeah. Dampier alone for Swift and Battier isn't worth it talent-wise. Someone else of value needs to be coming back in that deal.

What does anyone want to bet that Dampier is a Warrior at the end of the day? Freaking Warriors always wuss out of deadline deals.

Yes they do, they are famous for waffling.

Also there is another deal in the works. Stro and Big Jake for Jerome James and Vlad Rad of the Sonics...this deal I would not mind as much because we get a big center and a prospect with almost as much potential as Swift in Vlad.

P.S. I hope everyone understands that Swift is going to be a 18, 10 and 2 player as soon as he gets 30+ minutes a night.

Why in the world would GS do that trade? That's horrible for them. Battier, Big Jake, and Bo Outlaw would work so much better than that. Shandon Anderson's contract goes until the 2034/35 season, Kurt Thomas isn't going to bring much of anything to a team that already has Murphy and Robinson, and Mutombo's a fossil signed for the next three years. The Grizz have much more attractive trading pieces.

And they lose Van Exel on top of it. Who's their back up point guard? Avery Johnson? Getting rid of NVE's attitude can't be worth that, can it?

Isiah Thomas must be using mafia tactics...

Yeah it would've been nice to rip the Warriors off like that. However It must be a relief for you guys that Jerry West stuck to his guns.


I heard the Stro show and Battier for Dampier+Filler.


Yikes that would have been a total rip off for memphis.
