Memphis Grizzlies President of Basketball Operations Jerry West announced today the team has placed 6-8 shooting guard Mike Miller on the injured list due to Facet Syndrome (sore back). After being placed on the injured list today, Miller must sit out at least five games before being eligible to rejoin the active roster. In a related move, the Grizzlies activated 6-1 rookie guard Troy Bell from the injured list for tonight’s game versus the Phoenix Suns.
The Grizzlies decided to place Miller on the injured list today after consulting with team orthopaedic physicians at the Campbell Clinic who completed a thorough examination on Wednesday. The Campbell Clinic serves as the official team physicians and rehab consultants of the Memphis Grizzlies. Miller left early in the third quarter due to back spasms and did not return in the Grizzlies’ last game, a 109-92 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.
Bell has appeared in two games this season, making his NBA debut on Dec. 30 vs. the New Jersey Nets with 5 points, 1 rebound and 1 assist in 5 minutes. He has been on the active roster for 18 of 53 games this season after being placed on the injured list twice with left knee tendonitis Nov. 8 and Dec. 30.
