Yeah we really can't win regardless....but hey, i'll be hoping we give it a good shot and don't just roll over and die.

Re: Men's Quarterfinals Wednesday Aug 8
they may well be true, but over the years we should have been good enough to win a minor medal. we either have started slow or in one olympics, longley decided to rest a minor injury to be fresh for the next nba season rather then help us win bronze over lithuania.
and then longley rubbed our patriotic noses in it by being on the commentary team |

Re: Men's Quarterfinals Wednesday Aug 8
Has anybody else noticed that 3 of these match-ups (the ones not featuring the U.S.) are historically epic country clashes? Brazil and Argentina are rivals, and Brazil stole Argentina's coach. Spain and France have pretty much been rivals in basically everything since the dawn of European society. Lithuania and Russia have been rivals since the days of Sabas.
The quarterfinals might as well be called the grudge match round.

What's with France lately? They're not playing nearly as well as I was expecting heading into these games. Trailing France by 3 at halftime right now, 37-34.

Spain just looks like they think they can coast into the Gold Medal game. I would LOL if France beat them after they tanked their way into that side of the bracket. Spain would be 3-3 in the tournament if they lost.

The way it's playing out, it's going to come down to the final few possessions. France leading after three quarters, 53-51.

France needs to stop screwing up and get back on defense. They were in good shape but they couldn't cash in a couple of chances and then they didn't get back twice.

Clearly Batum was going for the ball on that foul, but that was a hell of a punch to the gut that he delivered.
