It's a no-brainer here for me. Alonzo Mourning has been rumoured to go to the Mavs for some type of trade involving Nick Van Exel and Raef Lafrenz which I think is pure rubbish. We don't want an old point guard and a useless center for a potential all-star center. Zo is one of the few players who have a chance at stoping Shaq Diesel on his bad nights like Shaq Daddy said himself. Zo is our franchise, he has everything down here in Miami and we can go as far to call him the Miami Heat symbol, nothing but love for him. Kandi Man won't come here so scratch that out because i'm pretty sure he'd stay a Clipper instead of warming the bench here, he'd be good assurance for Zo though for any god forbid injuries pop out.
That leaves us with 3 options, Keon Clark or the other two point guards. Brian Grant is gonna be working out with Zo like many of y'all have heard so he's gonna be somewhat in the same level he was at his prime and he'll get to know how to play with Mourning very well. To spice my reasoning up even more the big men like Vladimir Stepania and Sean Marks stepped up pretty big when Zo was down with his kidney problems, we're pretty solid at the power forward slot so scratch Keon out.
Now this is the show-time big question mark, Chauncey Billups or Travis Best. Personally, it's pretty easy to see who's gonna fit in better with us and it's Best. Billups isn't a true point guard compared to most of the players who run it at PG and he takes shots and sure he scores but scoring isn't a big problem now that we got Caron Butler and Eddie Jones getting us 18 a night. Also, Zo's known for some scoring down low too offcourse! I'm telling you we're making a big mistake if we don't take Best. Rod Strickland and Travis Best would be a great combo of starting and bench point guards for us.
Agreed, we should definately go after a PG. We are weak at that position. We should sign best because he fits in alot better then billups. Patrick made some great points and that wuz a good post.

I don't think we need Jeff McInnis or Smush Parker. I mean it's not like we don't have any point guards at all. We've got three legit point guards out of Rod Strickland, Eddie House and Anthony Carter. Each of those those players will be way more usefull then Parker or McInnis will ever be for the Heat.
Let's sign Best and then talk about possible additions to the squad, cool?

Well the Lakers I dont think will take him since they got Fisher but since they trades hunter they might want a backup but my guess is he wants to start.
The Magic are in da hunt for a PG.. I heard dey wanted Darm coming off bench? hopefully he will have no luck der.. and will come to miami besides if he wants orlando cuz of da weather, miami is bettaaa
I'm not convinced he'd pick Miami over Orlando if they go after him. As a part time Magic fan, I've heard more rumours about Jacque Vaugn going to Orlando then Travis Best but sure a few rumours about Best have popped up here and there though, offcourse.
We'll just see, the weather is pretty decent in both places but Disneyworld just may be the X factor.
I disagree. Grant Hill is probably set to be a starter at the point guard right now unless they get Travis Best. Best signing with Orlando would mean Hill would go back to the small forward slot and the point guard would be all for him. Right now it's looking for for LA Lakers and Miami Heat because at PG Grant Hill may be there and Mike Miller might start at SF according to the Orlando sentinel. Having our 3 best players on the court would be nice! (speaking as a Magic fan)
