Miami - Heat center Jermaine O'Neal said his concussion symptoms have improved but he's not sure he'd be fit to play in Game 7 of the first-round playoff series tomorrow at Atlanta.
O'Neal suffered the injury when Atlanta's Zaza Pachulia elbowed him during Game 5 on Wednesday. O'Neal missed Game 6 Friday night after coach Erik Spoelstra said O'Neal tried to convince the Heat medical staff he was fine to play.
But O'Neal expressed caution after a conversation with doctors this morning. He said they told him he didn't fully understand the risks in returning too soon from a head injury.
"I am going to do everything I can do to get back," O'Neal said before the Heat departed for Atlanta. "If it is something to the detriment of my health? We are not talking about a sprained ankle. You don't want to have reoccurring issues with your brain."

He said his other symptoms include "severe" headaches and trouble sleeping. He planned to rest as much as possible until gametime with the help of medication that makes him tired.
"The doctors and the training staff have the last say," O'Neal said. "Whether I play or not are based on the symptoms. The symptoms have gotten a lot better over the last two days.
"I was able to drive to the arena [today] and get some shots in."
Do you ever have anything productive to say? Not all concussions are the same.
You're right, he could die if he played. I had white fluid leaking from a cut on the back of my head when I got my concussion. I kept drinking and worked out and played ball 2 days later.

Have you ever had a concussion? No.
you are such a MAN R-Star. Too bad the rest of your fellow Canucks are pusies. Otherwise Canada wouldn't just be America's hat.
No O'Neal means more Magloire (another exceptional Canadian) banging with Pachulia and the rest of their front line.

Not sure why you would take that as me boasting. Its just the plain fact that you get headaches and have trouble sleeping. And its not as though its a consistent headache. Even if it was, have you ever seen "Missed game due to headache"?
Hockey players get concussions all the time, and more often than not return to the game later, unless they're had a history of concussion.
As far as Canadians, get someone to beat up GSP and players to come back from a little concussion and we'll talk.

Concussions range in significance from minor to major, but they all share one common factor — they temporarily interfere with the way your brain works. They can affect memory, judgment, reflexes, speech, balance and coordination.
Usually caused by a blow to the head, concussions don't always involve a loss of consciousness. In fact, most people who have concussions never black out. Some people have had concussions and not even realized it.
Concussions are common, particularly if you play a contact sport such as football. But every concussion, no matter how mild, injures your brain. This injury needs time and rest to heal properly. Luckily, most concussions are mild and people usually recover fully.

If you aren't Jermaine O'Neal, what is the point of continuing this argument? You don't know what he's going through, so you have no reason to debate whether he can play or not.
