How low have expectations for Chris Bosh fallen?
Chris Bosh had a great night during game 7. 8/10, punishing Boston from all over the floor for leaving him open to shoot. He also pulled in 8 boards. And it seems like most sports websites were, appropriately, giving him kudos. No problem with that. Great game, efficient scoring.
But this is a guy that, in his last year in Toronto, went OVER 30 points something like 12-13 times in 60 games played. How many times has he done that in Miami? He averaged 11 boards his last year in Toronto. He had double digit rebounds 4 times in a month only once this year. All of this talk about Bosh arriving as a player in Miami's gameplan with an 8 of 10 night, for 19/8, seems excessive for a guy that went 24/10.8 and clearly was once capable of really dominating an NBA floor offensively.

Re: How low have expectations for Chris Bosh fallen?
I don't think expectations have dropped. People just understand that as a 3rd option, your scoring numbers aren't going to speak very loud. 18ppg from your 3rd option is outstanding, but his value will lie in being ready to make the best of his opportunities when he does get them. That, and just the difference in Miami's dynamic with him in the lineup, is the reason for the recent praise, imo.

Questions:
Is Bosh the top 10 player in the nba this season? Is Bosh the top 15 player in the nba this season?

Bosh gets injured, the Heat struggles. Bosh comes back, Heat wins.
I don't know about you but he seems pretty damn important to the Heat to me. And no, anyone who thought Bosh would put up the same numbers that he put up in Toronto is an idiot. |

Re: How low have expectations for Chris Bosh fallen?
I thought that all 3 would average 20ppg though or that bosh would avg even more rebounds like 12rpg because he would focus more on defense and rebounding with wade and bron leading the offense.
Wrong on both counts. |

Re: How low have expectations for Chris Bosh fallen?
Bosh is playing the same role James Worthy played during Showtime. Anyone with eyes can see he could do more if needed and he does most times the opportunity. Fans want to kill players who play a role for a team to win and also kill players who go for self despite what would be best for the team.
If Bosh is healthy the Heat beat the Pacers and Cs in 5.

Re: How low have expectations for Chris Bosh fallen?
Bosh is more important then Wade, so I never could understand why it was always "Lebron and Wade". I view Wade as a bonus if he's going good for the game. Bosh is very effective even if he isn't shooting that great for the day, just by his presence spacing the floor and his size. If Wade is not shooting well or is off, he's useless almost IMO.

Re: How low have expectations for Chris Bosh fallen?
And that proves my point. 30 years ago in a high scoring team it happened. It'd be great for CB to average 20+, but it's unrealistic.

Re: How low have expectations for Chris Bosh fallen?
I know the Mullin/Hardaway/Richmond Warriors did it in 90-91.... that's another team that played at a high pace, 116 ppg. West/Baylor/Chamberlain did it too back in the day.
edit to add: The 07-08 Warriors had Baron Davis, Monta Ellis and Stephen Jackson all over 20 ppg.

Re: How low have expectations for Chris Bosh fallen?
The playoffs are over sensitive to any new bit of information out there. The fact that Bosh had a breakout game (considering his previous 2 games were just coming back from injury) in game 7 and got us over the line obviously has people crediting him again.
He had missed the past 2 rounds almost in their entirety, so to get him back and contributing is great.

Re: How low have expectations for Chris Bosh fallen?
How many teams in NBA history have had the pairing of 2 superstars and a perennial all star?
And I did remember a team in the last 5 years that had 3 20ppg players (I think it was suns or golden state). I didn't expect Miami to play such a slow pace in the summer of 2010. |
