If you know you can actually defend Dwyane without getting a foul for looking at him, it should slow him down quite a bit.

Re: Worried About Wade?
It's not, though. Most common misconception about his game. When he's on his game he's playing with his back to the basket efficiently, hitting mid-range pullups, and setting up teammates. For whatever reason, over the past couple of seasons we've seen him spaz out and start flying around and jacking up ridiculous shots senselessly when the going gets rough. That's not what got him to this point. No doubt he still hasn't mentally made the adjustment to being second fiddle, and it scrambles his brain.

Re: Worried About Wade?
Fortunately, all of those teams are currently banged up as well. The last four Boston seasons have been derailed by injury, I don't expect 2013 to be any different. Rose isn't Rose again until next year, Granger's injury has derailed Indy's first half of the season (at least) and New York's the oldest team ever.

Re: Worried About Wade?
Everyone knew this day was coming though. Hence why (besides the obvious) we were so lucky to get Bosh and Lebron on board, to take some of the toll off Dwyane and prolong his career.
Im not really worried about him at the moment. He is always an injury risk, has been his whole career, so the team playing it cautious with him is no surprise. Dwyane usually starts seasons slow and comes into form around midseason, so I think his numbers should revert to the mean again by midseason. No im not expecting 25+ ppg, but numbers similar to last years, say: 20 ppg 4.5 rpg 4.5 apg 1.5 spg 1.2 bpg 32.5 mpg 50% fg Something like that anyway. I'll be surprised if he averages under 20ppg for the season though. Dwyane has had some horrific games early, and his FG% is still at 47%. So it's not all bad, but he needs to not force the issue if he is struggling. I think that's our biggest problem, when Wade is off - instead of working the ball to the hot hand, we tend to try and get him untracked, and it compounds the issue. It has been an adjustment for Dwyane. He doesn't get the ball in as many places as he used to, doesn't handle as much as he used to, and his play suffers for it a bit. Sometimes he tries to do the spectacular when the simple move would get the job done. Maybe we should give him a few more sets where he is coming off the pick and roll, rather than relying mostly on post ups. Wade is at his best when he's splitting picks and coming at the big guys, using his euro step or just getting contact and going to the line. Need to see more of that, rather than coming of curls for mid ranges J's and post ups.

Re: Worried About Wade?
That screamfest against Spo always sits in the back of my head, and worries me that Erik may feel the need to tiptoe around Dwyane instead of calling him out when he's getting wild on the court.
I would like to see him get more opportunities coming off screens at the top of the key, like he's used to, but he's been getting good looks in the post, just missing a lot of easy push shots or flailing to get a call while he throws up junk. The former, at least, should work itself out. Clearly he was in a funk on this last trip. He looked great changing direction, splitting traps, and all the classic Dwyane moves in that preseason game against Detroit. We need to do whatever it takes to keep him at that physical level. |

Re: Worried About Wade?
His defense is pitiful like he's not even trying anymore. His durability has always been a question. I don't think he's necessarily on a decline as much as I think he's just coasting.

Re: Worried About Wade?
Said it in a couple of other threads. Main reason for his struggles is that floater. That's usually been a shot he's been very good at, but to begin this season, he's been way off on it.
