Who should the Phins Draft?
|
|
After a successful 1st season under Saban, finishing 9-7 and riding out on a 6 game win streak, who would you like the Dolphins to draft?
We're looking at the 16-19th pick right now, I'm not sure how the tiebreakers will move us around in that pack...
What position do you think we need? And who would you like to see?

Clearly our #1 need is QB. We haven't had a good QB since Marino. Since we'll be drafting somewhere in the middle of the pack a few mock drafts have us taking QB Jay Cutler(Vanderbilt). He looks to have some potential to be a player in the nfl. I also like Brady Quinn (Notre Dame), I think i'd be happy with either of these picks.

definetly a QB. Its the hardest position to fill in any team. Frerrote did pretty good for his first season with the phins. At least now i know he could become a reliable backup with sage at third string.
16th pick, i say pick the best QB available, unless dolphins have ohter plans to fill the QB spot with a proven QB. Theres a chance Ricky might get traded, maybe the phins can get a good QB in return.

Well if pretty good means the 28th ranked qb then ok. That said he'll probably start another year while we're hopefully grooming a franchise QB for 07'.
I'd be lying if I said I was pleased with Gus' play. Sure it was his first season with the Fins, but it was not his first season in this offensive system. He came over from Minnesota with O-coordinator Scott Linehan. I was expecting more out of him. But unless we bring in some veteran who can take his starting job (unlikely) we'll have to see Frerotte start another year and hope for improvement.

There should be alot of decent names on FA market at QB...
I dont think we address the QB situation in the 1st round unless someone falls into our lap...but I think we draft a QB on day 1.
I think we look at O-Line or possibly a defensive player to help with our aging D

Seeing I'm not a Phins fan, idk. But Brady Quinn wouldnt be a bad pick. The thing on my mind is who will be my teams new coach(I'm a Rams fan.)

The Cutler kid sounds most likely
i want qb, but wouldnt be upset with a young cb since we are getting rid of Madison it sounds like. Also this year has some solid left tackles which has been a yearly problem for us

The last record was held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar with 63%. Wade accomplished it with less than 20 field goal attempts per game
4. Fifth player in NBA history with at least 30 points, 15 assists and 5 rebounds in a playoff game (5/10/05 vs. WAS). The others are Magic Johnson, Jerry West, Walt Frazier and Oscar Robertson.
5. One of four players in NBA history to have at least 30 points and 12 assists in three consecutive games (November 24-27, 2006). The others are Oscar Robertson, Nate Archibald, and Kevin Johnson. [5]

If a Qb is not there then i hope we go defense. Its only getting older and they need to start adding young talent. It was a great start last draft with Channing Crowder, Travis Daniels and Matt Roth. Manny Wright showed flashes in the little playing time he had during the regular season and Kevin Vickerson was playing very well in the preseason before tearing knee ligaments.
Thank God we have Nick Saban and Randy Mueller picking our players instead of dumb and dumber, Wanny and Speilman.

I like Brady Quinn...but I think he'll stay at ND.
There's also a guy who's gonna slip b/c he got hurt this season, Omar Jacobs. We got a chance to grab him late in Day 1, I think he's a good project.

I don't know about Roth and Manny. They are still on the wait and see list for me. To think we basicly traded one of the best cover corners in the league, Pat Surtain, for a #2 pick (Matt Roth) is kind of stomach turning. I hope he pans out, but haven't seen him do much of anything yet.
We need to get younger on defense, but we also need help on the O-Line. I wouldn't be surprised if we went DT, OT, with first day picks. Will Poole will hopefully be back next year, along with Daniels in his 2nd year so hopefully we won't be reaching for any CBs. However we could use some help at safety. Our LBs look solid with Zach Crowder and Spragan.
I'd say the #1 need on D is DT, with Traylor apparently on his way out.
So.. QB, OT, DT, S, CB in that order, for me.

Huff.
He'd be a great fit in our defensive scheme and he can play CB or S which are two positions we definately need help at

I doubt we'll spend a first day pick on secondary, but your right, he could help us. Though I think we have bigger needs.
We'd more likely pick up another safety/corner via free agency than in the draft.

I don't know about Huff. Is he big enough to play safety? He'd be a better a fit at corner, and with Poole coming back next season, I think we're ok at CB. We do need safety help though.

I think we should go after Cutler, but I don't think he's going to be there. I would go after Eric Winston from the "U" Hopefully, he pans out better than Vernon Carey. If not him then one of those stud CBs if they're available.
