DOLPHINS expected to have a new QB by the end of TOMARROW!

[Palm Beach Post] The Dolphins' search for a new quarterback intensified Saturday, when an early morning visit to free agent Drew Brees led to lengthy evening discussions with Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper.

The Dolphins are expected to have a new quarterback by the end of today, two sources said. The decision on which quarterback — Brees or Culpepper — will be based on today's meeting with Brees in South Florida.

The Dolphins, who anticipate landing one of the two, began courting Brees shortly after sunrise Saturday, the first day of free agency, a source said.

After the meeting on Saturday, Brees boarded a plane at noon to meet with the New Orleans Saints. He was to stay overnight, meet with the Saints again in the morning, then fly to South Florida for a more extensive meeting with the Dolphins.

Nick Saban and Randy Mueller did not want Brees to accept an offer from the Saints without talking to them, the source said, prompting their early flight. New Orleans is expected to offer a large amount of guaranteed money to Brees.

Rumors also swirled through league circles that Culpepper, who tore three ligaments in his knee in a game last year, traveled from his Orlando home to meet with the Dolphins in Davie. While those rumors couldn't be confirmed, discussions between the two parties did take place, several sources said.

i like culpepper.

but ill be fine with brees as well.

either of them is a huge upgrade at the QB position, which weve lacked since Marino retired.

I like Brees better. He is younger and his injury will most likely heal a lot faster than Culpepper's injury.

That said, I'lll be VERY happy with either one of them.

Re: DOLPHINS expected to have a new QB by the end of TOMARROW!

It seems Brees will make his decision tomarrow. Apparently the Saints are offering him more money and are prepared to outbid any team for Brees' services. Our only hope is that Brees realizes that Miami is a contender and will sign with the team more likely to succeed. Dolphins management is having dinner with Drew tonight. Brees is expected to talk with his agent tomarrow and make his decision on who he'll sign with.

After the season Culp. and Brees had last season, I don't understand how anyone would want Culp. over Brees.

Re: DOLPHINS expected to have a new QB by the end of TOMARROW!

brees wants an insane amount of money and Culpepper makes an insane amount of money and would cost a second rounder

im not sure with their injuries either are worth the risk. Brees at 7 million is reasonable, but he is asking for 10 a year

Saints | Brees wants $10 million per year; Saints closest to his demands
Sun, 12 Mar 2006 18:22:37 -0800

John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports free agent QB Drew Brees (Chargers) reportedly is seeking a contract that will pay him $10 million per year and he is firm in those demands. The New Orleans Saints are the closest to meeting Brees' demands. The Miami Dolphins aren't offering as much in guarantees as New Orleans, and they seem to have dug in on not doing that with Brees coming off shoulder surgery.

I can play for the Dolphins as long as you pay me...

10 MILLION DOLLARS!

Sorry, the Dolphins forum doesn't seem to be getting many hits. I figured it would me more noticable here, as I would assume a good portion of Heat fans are also Dolphin fans. And yes, 10 million is quite ridiculous and I don't think Miami will meet those demands. Either Brees comes down, or we'll be welcoming Culpepper to Miami.
