Last season:
Last season the Heat finished 44-38, and crashed out of the NBA Playoffs in the first round. Dwyane Wade was a vital player taking the Heat far in the league, and Jason Kapono won the All-Star 3 Point Shootout, as well as suddenly becoming a very good Heat player.
Off-Season:
Heat decided Antoine Walkers time was over in Miami, and traded him, Simien and Doleac for Ricky Davis and Mark Blount of the Minnesota Timberwolves. They let Kapono go as a free agent to the Toronto Raptors. They also picked up free agents Smush Parker and Anfernee 'Penny' Hardaway. Daequen Cook was aquired in the 2007 NBA draft. Heat also signed P.J. Brown as a back-up power forward, because of the trade sending Wayne Simien to Timberwolves.
Owner's demands:
This year owner Brad James demands the NBA Championship to be brought home to Miami.

Heat sign free agent
Breaking News: The Miami Heat have added a new player to their roster, and he goes by the name of Mikael Pietrus. The 25 year old Frenchman has been signed since his former team the Golden State Warriors waived him. Coach Pat Riley is hoping he can be very effective off the bench, and push Ricky Davis for his place.

Heat leave it late, win in OT
When you play the Miami Heat, your never going to get an easy match, as the Detroit Pistons found out today. Going into the 4th quarter 5 points up was enough the Pistons though, but a late string of 3-pointers from Ricky Davis and Smush Parker, including a buzzer beating 3 from Davis, changed that matter. With 1 second left on the shot clock Davis fired, and it was in all the way.
Heat took the momentum from their 4th quarter into overtime, and easily defeated the Pistons.
Rasheed Wallace led the Pistons scoring with 34 points and 12 rebounds. Dwyane Wade couldn't quite match this, but led the Heat with 26 points.
The Heat's bench was also vital to their win, picking up 47 points.

Heat make trade
The Miami Heat have today made a trade sending 38 year old power forward P.J. Brown to the New Orleans Hornets, in exchange for Cedric Simmons of the Hornets. Simmons, 21, says he is delighted to have moved, and will try to kick-start his career at the Heat.

Team-mates unable to back up Wade, Heat lose
Today Heat recorded their first loss of the season, handed to them by the Indiana Pacers. Dwyane Wade set the NBA season high of points, recording 41, but his team-mates couldn't break 13. The usually good Heat bench was non-existant, whilst the Pacers did some good rebounding, Heat just couldn't hit shots. Mickael Pietrus, the new Heat signing, seems to be lost, being on the court for 10 minutes and only recording 3 points. Jason Williams continues to be quiet and not playing his game, which seems to frustrate coach Pat Riley who ended giving Smush Parker almost as many minutes.
One thing is for certain, the Heat will have to pick up their game before their next match, they can't leave it all to Wade.

Heat make 2nd trade of season
Miami Heat today made possibly the biggest trade all season, sending Jason Williams and Penny Hardaway to the Orlando Magic, whilst aquiring Jameer Nelson and Hedo Turkoglu the rumours began when out of form Jason Williams was restricted on his minutes vs. Indiana Pacers, and Pat Riley has decided to go through with it and trade the player.

Another late Heat win, Bobcats defeated
The Heat picked up another win by a buzzer beating 3, this time being scored by none other than Dorell Wright. The 22 year old stole the ball from Gerald Wallace's hands and with 1 second remaining, threw it for a 3, and it was good. New Heat player Jameer Nelson led the Heat scoring getting 22 points, in a game where he never looked like he was getting to know his team mates. Heart breaking for the Bobcats who were led by Jason Richardson getting 28 points with some fast breakaway dunks. Felton put up some major numbers with 12 assists.
