Article: Porter says Bucks will bounce back

St. Francis- There is a distinct possibility that things could get ugly over the final 20 games for the Milwaukee Bucks.

An unsightly, 110-71 loss in Miami to the Heat on Monday night certainly qualified as the low point of the season, and it left the Bucks six games out of the final Eastern Conference playoff spot, currently held by the Orlando Magic.

However, the time for dreaming of lottery luck in the upcoming National Basketball Association draft is not here quite yet.

Bucks coach Terry Porter intends to keep his team focused on its remaining games, including a home matchup tonight against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, and another Bradley Center game on Friday night against the playoff-bound Washington Wizards.

"We're disappointed in the season, but all we can do now is zero in on what we have," Porter said. "We have to focus on getting as many wins as we can."

The Bucks are 4-3 at the Bradley Center since the all-star break, including impressive victories over Seattle and Chicago. In their last home game, they played competitively but lost to Dallas, 112-110.

The changes made at the league trade deadline - when the Bucks dealt away point guard Mike James and small forward Keith Van Horn while creating some financial flexibility for next season - have hurt the team's depth for the short term.

But the Bucks have given indications they will keep fighting. Forward Desmond Mason could have used an abdominal strain as an excuse to sit out in Miami, but even though he clearly was hurting, he played 28 minutes.

Re: Report: Porter says Bucks will bounce back

I might be alone on this but I just don't think TP is a good head coach at all. Now I know that isn't the whole problem but it is a major part of this season.

Re: Report: Porter says Bucks will bounce back

Porter isn't a good x's and o's coach. He is a players coach, and he knows a lot about the game. Are there better coaches out there, yes, but I think that Porter with his knowledge and his no nonsense approach to the game is good for this young team. Give him TJ Ford this year, and we are easily in the playoffs, imo.

Re: Report: Porter says Bucks will bounce back

Yeah like you said he is a players' coach and not an X and O's coach but if you look and see most players' coaches are assistants. I think he is an excellent assistant but he doesn't have the knowledge for being a head coach.

Re: Report: Porter says Bucks will bounce back

I think a great coach to come in and keep Porter would be Flip Saunders ....that would be great.
