Gadzuric ~ Big Ben extrapolation

Ben played 36 minutes
Gadz 22 - his stats at 36....

Ben Wallace 10 points on 45%, 12 rebounds, 2.5 blocks
Dan Gadzuric 12 points on 54%, 13.5 rebounds, 2 blocks

Gadz was #2 in the NBA in rebounds per minute
#1 offensive rebounds per minute
#6 defensive rebounds per minute
#7 overall offensive rebounds

In April, averaged 10 points on 54% and 11 rebounds in only 26 minutes! He likes to be in better condition then guards, incredible work ethic and drive. He could attain those numbers and that should not be overlooked.

The Bucks need scoring from a post position. If they truly believe Marvin Williams can play PF, I like Gadzuric/Williams over Bogut/Smith. The scoring doesn't have to come at center to be successful(see Ben)

Bucks ATHLETIC lineup:
Ford Redd Mason Williams Gadzuric

Bucks BIG lineup:
Ford Redd Williams Smith Gadzuric

Bucks Bogut lineup:
Ford Redd Mason Smith Bogut

The Bucks can go way more athletic and way bigger with the Williams pick.
Gadzuric is easily starter quality given a team's needs.

Re: Gadzuric ~ Big Ben extrapolation

Well Dom, there is a reason he only plays 22 minutes a game.....with Gadz' high energy play, putting him on the floor for longer would be foolish, as he would easily run out of gas night in and night out, and probably not be durable over an 82 game season.

If you honestly think we can get 35 minutes a night outta Gadz, then that is your opinion, but I just don't see it happening. Also, Bogut is just world's better than Gadz on the offensive end of the basketball, it really isn't close at all. With Gadz on offense, our half court game suffers greatly, leaving more pressure on our perimeter players to make things happen. Hopefully with a post presence like Bogut, it wouldn't be like that.

With both Bogut and Gadz, we can go fast or we can run the half court games:

Fast Break:
PG: TJ Ford
SG: Michael Redd
SF: Desmond Mason
PF: Joe Smith
C: Dan Gadzuric

(very much like the team in 03-04)

Half Court:
PG: TJ Ford
SG: Michael Redd
SF: Desmond Mason
PF: Joe Smith
C: Andrew Bogut

Being able to consistently play 2 styles of basketball is very important, as it gives you another option on how to win games....with Gadz, we have no half court game........we could even experiment and put both Bogut and Gadz on the floor at the same time.....

Overall, I love Gadz, but he is not a starting center in this league...at 22 mpg last season, he showed that he is best suited as a 15-25 minute high energy and defense player off the bench. In this role next year behind Bogut, I think he will flourish.

Re: Gadzuric ~ Big Ben extrapolation

Season: 22 minutes 7.3 points 8.3 rebounds
April: 26 minutes 9.7 points 11.2 rebounds

His production per minute certainly did not go down in the ONLY month he played more minutes than his season average. In fact his production sky rocketed. 22 minutes does not tire a guy of Gadzuric's prime conditioning. The guy is conditioned as well as any big man. He was injured last pre-season and he had a quote referencing it that has stuck with me. He said that he was OK to play, but wanted to get back in condition where he was the best in shape player on the floor. He can play 30+ minutes with ease. Moreover, It's hard to get in the flow of a game in limited minutes, he could improve on some of his extrapolated numbers like points, assists, and blocks. As far as the scoring aspect, my 1st post addressed that a scoring PF ala Sheed would counter balance his inadequacy. The Bucks are touting Marvin Williams as a PF. If they think he can score there.......
