The Bucks blog at JSonline has a post on Larry K comparing Yi and Dirk:

The one player in the National Basketball Association that Milwaukee Bucks’ rookie Yi Jianlian has been compared to most is probably German star Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks.
The Bucks had Yi matched up against Nowitzki Saturday night at the Bradley Center where the Bucks defeated Dallas, 97-95, and Bucks coach Larry Krystkowiak said afterward that he thought Yi did a “commendable” job.
“I don’t know that anyone matches up really well with Dirk,” said Krystkowiak. “He’s a special player. They’re both close to 7 feet tall and long and they shoot the ball well. It may be the guy that everybody in the league wants to compare Yi to because he’s a skilled 7-foot guy.”
Nowitzki went into the game averaging 20.7 points and he scored 20 against the Bucks. It wasn’t the first time that Yi had gone up against Nowitzki since they have played against each other in international play. Krystkowiak said before Saturday’s game that he hadn’t been aware of that fact. “I just assume that Yi doesn’t know anybody,” said Krystkowiak. “We watch a lot of personnel and individual film and he didn’t share with me that he’s familiar with him. Yi spends a lot of time in the film room because every game he plays, it’s at least two or three (new) people that he may see that he may be matched up against. So he’s becoming a student of the game. He has to understand tendencies and other team’s personnel.”

Nice to know Yi's watching film on the Bucks opponents.
