There's been talk all over the board about Andrew Bogut and how big of a bust he has been. I will say that as a #1 pick he looks like a bust right now. BUT we need to look at the players he's played with.
Mo Williams is not exactly a prototypical PG. There is no doubt he is shoot first, shoot second and maybe he'll pass third.
Michael Redd also isn't a distributing guard. He takes the meaning of shooting guard seriously.
With these two guards not distributing the ball or feeding it into the post like we need them to Bogut will never be the 20 and 10 guy we'd like him to become. These two are also not very good defenders which doesn't help Bogut like they should.
The solution needs to be found. One of those guys have to go for a more defensive minded, distributing guard. Otherwise, Bogut will never be more then a 15/8 guy at best. Bogut's defense has improved this year as he has added shotblocking to his repitoire. The problem is he's never been higher then the 4th option on a team. I don't think he can carry a team but he sure can be a helluva 2nd option. He has very good post moves and if I remember correctly at Utah he had a decent jumpshot, which he hasn't shown to be very good here.
I would suggest keeping Yi and Bogut as our franchise players because Yi can be a very good outside shooting 4-man to give Bogut the space to move.
One thing is for sure this team isn't going anywhere with what they have.
I don't know why people call Bogut a bust. Because he's not Shaq? He's a skilled, and still young, center. He can improve, he's got good offensive skills, and with the right teammates, he'll be very effective.
As it is now, we've got an inexperience PF (Yi) who will get much better in the next few years and they'll be a good tandem. But we don't have a decent small forward, and our guards have issues.
I'd say his production so far has obviously been a bust, but as a player, no. He's still young, and has the potential to be a very good, effective and solid center for many years. He could end up being a Top 5 center (thats his ceiling) in my opinion, but considered in the Ilgauskas/Kaman type way (very "solid" but not flashy and gets no big attention).
But I agree with Roux, unless the backcourt changes, it won't be here in Milwaukee.
I do, however, think that management will realize that they have a very very good center and will do what's necessary to help him progress....even if the coaches don't realize it

Step one the senator needs to sell the team to someone that will keep the team local, someone that actually cares about owning an NBA team
Step two is to start building around andrew and yi, even if that means trading redd and mo to put good defensive players and good ball distributors around them
Step three is hire a coach that is actually qualified to coach an nba team, our last 3 coaching hires have been pathetic..Porter( if he was really that good dont you think someone would have given him a shot by now?) Stotts(Had his chance in Atlanta and embarassed himself, how he got another coaching job in the league is minor miracle, he must've had some naughty photos of the senator) Coach K ( 2 years as the head coach at Montana!, and half a year under the influence of Stotts in the nba doesnt qualify him to coach either) they need someone who knows how to coach in this league and to garner some sort of team chemistry.
