A headline I hope is true: Bucks players see growth as a team

Quote:
St. Francis - Milwaukee Bucks forward Charlie Villanueva used an interesting word to describe the team after it charged back from a 23-point deficit to defeat the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night at the Bradley Center.

Mature.

That's not a word that has often been used to describe these Bucks. More often, adjectives such as selfish, inconsistent or disinterested have been more applicable.

But things were different Saturday night as the Bucks scored their biggest comeback victory of the season.

"We've come a long way," said Villanueva, who rallied personally from a forgettable first half to make a major contribution to the victory in the second half. "It was a big win for us and I'm glad we were able to get it. We didn't quit. We didn't give in. We've started to mature."

Guard Charlie Bell, who hit a big three-pointer late in the game, took a similar view.

"It's big for us," Bell said. "It's really big. Denver is no slouch team. They're a really good team and lately we've been giving a lot of games away when teams have come back on us. So for us to come back after being down 23 points, to come back and get a win, is big. It just shows the growth that this team has made."

The situation certainly didn't look good for the listless Bucks as the fast-breaking Nuggets pushed their lead to 58-35 with 4 minutes 26 seconds left in the second quarter. But Michael Redd scored seven of his season-high 42 points from then until halftime to help the Bucks get the lead down to a slightly more manageable 64-50 at halftime. Redd had 26 points at halftime.
