JSOnline looks at Coach K's first year
Quote:
Larry Krystkowiak will be the first to tell you that his first full year on the job hasn't gone well.
But that is no great revelation considering his team is sitting 20 games below the .500 mark.
The Milwaukee Bucks' coach, though, has had a lot to deal with all season.
Early on, he went about the task of implementing his system and then tweaking it as the season wore on. There has been a steady diet of defeats and some internal issues that are not uncommon on a losing team. Contractual issues have affected the team and there have been some international factors that came along with drafting Chinese rookie Yi Jianlian.
It has been an educational experience for Krystkowiak.
"I think he's learned a lot," said Tony Brown, the team's lead assistant coach. "He had a little bit last year when he could kind of get a feel for the job. Then this year he's got it all. We've had all kinds of things. With the injuries and rotations and guys wanting to be traded . . . that kind of thing. But I think that's typical of any NBA team. You're going to go through bumps over the course of the season and I think he's handled it pretty well. We're all learning . . . trying to learn these players and trying to get a good feel for what we want from them."
