Bogut nose broken? and strange night for Redd
Quote:
Atlanta – It was a rather strange night for Bucks guard Michael Redd Wednesday at Philips Arena where the Bucks were defeated by the Atlanta Hawks, 115-96.
Redd scored 19 points in the first quarter in leading the Bucks to a 37-32 lead but scored just one point the rest of the way and did not play in the fourth quarter as the Bucks lost their seventh straight road game.
“I wanted to keep it going (after the first quarter) but it just didn’t go my way,” said Redd. “There really wasn’t anything going to me, I’m not going to force it and look selfish on TV. It just wasn’t going for me.”
In the second quarter, the Bucks went inside to center Andrew Bogut who scored 16 of his team-high 27 points. Bogut left the game in the fourth quarter with what the Bucks think is a broken nose.
Asked about Redd’s drop off in scoring after the first quarter, coach Larry Krystkowiak said, “In the first quarter there were no plays called for Mike. He was just getting some offense through the flow of our offense and put up some numbers. They obviously clamped down a little bit defensively. Andrew had a special game going too at halftime. That’s kind of the mentality the players get into when somebody scores 20 points, then they need 40. We had a lot of breakdowns, whether they be turnovers or forcing shots in the second half.”
