Bogut back with mask

Quote:
St. Francis - The good news for Milwaukee Bucks center Andrew Bogut is that he's expected to be back in the starting lineup tonight against the New York Knicks at the Bradley Center.

The bad news is that he'll once again be wearing a protective mask on his face.

"I hate it," Bogut said. "It's a pain in the (butt)."

Said coach Larry Krystkowiak: "Andrew is back. With mask in hand."

Bogut missed the last two games because of the broken nose he suffered Wednesday in a game in Atlanta. Bogut underwent surgery on his nose Friday but was back Monday and went through a full practice.

Sitting out practice, though, was backup center Jake Voskuhl, who sprained his left ankle in pregame warm-ups Saturday night in Chicago. He is questionable for tonight.

Bogut, meanwhile, was at practice getting the feel for the mask he will wear for the rest of the season. It's similar to the mask he wore early in his rookie season after he suffered a similar injury.

He didn't like the mask then and he doesn't like it now.

"It's annoying," he said. "It's itchy and sweaty and (it affects) the peripheral vision. I got used to it (as a rookie) because I wore it for about 30 or 40 games but it's going to be tough to get used to it for just 10 games. But if I don't want to get my nose broken again I have to wear it. After a while, once you get into the flow of the game, you forget about it."

After Bogut's 20-minute operation Friday, there was some talk that he might play Saturday in Chicago, but he was still feeling the effects of the surgery and didn't join the team in Chicago.

"Whatever drugs they gave me lasted up until Saturday night and I was still feeling kind of dopey," Bogut said. "I got home on Friday and I actually felt decent. But then I woke up Saturday morning, I was dopey. It was good fun trying to do coordinated things that day."
