Bucks finally beat the Knicks!

Although that could be a bad thing.

Quote:
The third time proved to be the charm for the Bucks.

It took overtime, but the Bucks finally defeated their nemesis, the New York Knicks, 119-115, on Tuesday night at the Bradley Center.

Bobby Simmons scored a season-high 24 points, including Milwaukee's first six points in overtime, as the Bucks (25-48) snapped a four-game losing streak. Michael Redd paced the Bucks with 36 points, nine assists and six rebounds, and center Andrew Bogut added 24 points and 13 rebounds.

Quentin Richardson paced the Knicks (20-54) with 22 points, while power forward Zach Randolph, nearly traded to the Bucks at the February deadline, added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jamal Crawford also had 19 points.

The Bucks had lost two previous games to the Knicks this season, blowing 17-point second-half leads on both occasions, once at Madison Square Garden in November and again at home in February. The Bucks lost those two games by a total of four points.

This time the Bucks trailed by 12 points late in the third quarter and were facing an 88-77 deficit entering the final quarter.

Milwaukee went on a 11-0 run to open the period, sparked by two jumpers by Yi Jianlian and five points from Simmons, including a three-pointer that tied the score at 88-88.

But Richardson responded with 3 three-pointers from the right wing, helping the Knicks grab a 101-92 advantage with 5:27 remaining.

The Bucks trailed, 103-96, before Simmons hit a jumper and Bogut rebounded a miss by Redd. After a steal by Redd, Simmons was fouled on a breakaway attempt and sank both free throws, bringing the Bucks within 103-102.

Tempers flared on the Knicks possession, after an offensive rebound by David Lee, and New York's Richardson and Milwaukee's Desmond Mason were assessed technical fouls.

Crawford was fouled and sank two free throws, but Redd responded with a three from the right wing to create a 105-105 tie with 1:04 left.

Mason stole the inbounds pass and threw it downcourt, but Redd was double-teamed and lost the ball out of bounds. Crawford then scored on a runner in the lane with 44.1 seconds to go, putting the Knicks ahead by two points.

After a miss inside by Bogut, point guard Ramon Sessions rebounded and was fouled. The rookie sank both free throws to create a 107-107 tie. Crawford missed a jumper, and Sessions rebounded and quickly pushed the ball to Simmons, who drove for a layup to put the Bucks ahead, 109-107, with 1.8 seconds remaining.

But a foul called on Sessions, on a three-point try by Richardson, gave the Knicks three free throws with a second remaining. Richardson came up well short on his first attempt but sank the next two to create a 109-109 tie and send the game to overtime.

Re: Bucks finally beat the Knicks!

Sounds like Sessions played really well:

Quote:
Milwaukee Bucks backup point guard Royal Ivey looked like a proud father on the bench, beaming with pride as he watched rookie point guard Ramon Sessions direct the Bucks down the stretch to a 119-115 overtime victory over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night the Bradley Center.

Ivey and Sessions often go after each other in practice pretty hard and Sessions showed against the Knicks that those tussles are paying some dividends.

"When you get the opportunity, you have to come through," Ivey said. "He didn't look nervous out there and he just played with a great poise.

"I was thinking of all those practices I was hounding him and it's paying off because he just looks comfortable out there. Nothing bothers him. That's my rook. I talk to him a lot about the game, the league, and I'm happy for him. A lot of guys in this league don't like to see other guys do good but I'm happy for him because he's come a long way."

Said coach Larry Krystkowiak, "It's hard to keep Ramon off the floor right now."

Sessions came back into the game late in the third quarter and played the rest of the way, finishing with four points and six assists in 34 minutes. He made two key free throws in the final seconds of regulation and hounded high-scoring Knicks guard Jamal Crawford on defense to a point where things got a bit testy late in the game.

The Bucks had to rally back twice in the fourth quarter before the game went into overtime tied, 109-109. A foul by Sessions on New York's Quentin Richardson on a three-point shot with 1 second left almost cost the Bucks the victory but Richardson missed the first free throw before making the next two to send it into overtime.

"He bailed me out," Sessions said.
Just for the heck of it Larry K, let Sessions start a game.
