Mason: Constant changes don't help team

Boston - Desmond Mason has been playing in the National Basketball Association long enough to know how good teams are put together. And as the Milwaukee Bucks close out yet another disappointing season, Mason hopes team management is patient with the roster.
"Teams get better with chemistry as time goes on," said Mason, who is completing his eighth season. "If you look at all the good teams - and I've said this a number of times, the San Antonios, Detroits, the Lakers, all those guys - they play together. The coaches say that. The players say that. They've played together for an extended period of time and that's how you become good because they learn each other.
"If you look at the Bucks over the last four years there's been a lot of movement. Whether it's been players or coaches, all type of things. You never have a chance to get the consistency that you need to become a good team."
Another off-season of change is most likely on the horizon for the Bucks, who have just four games left in the regular season, including one tonight against the Celtics.
General manager Larry Harris has already been fired and coach Larry Krystkowiak could be the next one to go after what has been another season of under-achievement. How much of an overhaul will be undertaken in the locker room will depend on the new general manager but it would appear that no one is untouchable at this point.
At some point, Mason would like to see the revolving door removed from the franchise's entrance so a solid nucleus of players and coaches can be established.
"It's hard to have some consistency when you have people going in and out," he said. "That's the main thing. At some point you take a look at the situation and say, 'OK, I might have to take some lumps to be good.' Portland did it. They had a bright spot this year. They took some lumps but they had a bright spot.
"And I think they're going to keep those guys together for a long."
