to me it's not a good idea because we don't need another small forward or shooting guard. what's the point of trading the two...in the end, wally's role here is better than what mashburn's would be should he come. though mashburn is the better all around player, it still creates a log-jam in the middle of the lineup.

we need a power forward or center. if trading wally happens to bring a center and a mid-position player then so be it. but we desperately need help up-front.

NO!!!!!!!!

I'm a fan of the MonsterMash, but the dude's injury prone. Plus, we don't need to get any older.

unless we got other players in the deal like an addition of pj brown and morris peterson/courtney alexander. honestly either it is a point less trade because we get a big version of spree without the shooting and wally has the shooting and that is what we need unless it brings in a guy that is twice as good as kandi

Hornets fans are debating the same thing at times. However, our concern is more with Wally's albatross of a contract. I cannot see any team trading a quality 4 or 5 for Wally unless that player also has such a terrible contract. The only reason for the trade would be to exchange an older injury prone player with an attitude towards his team's management (Mash) for a younger injury prone player with a terrible contract (Wally).

Well what i read on espn is that the trade would be wally for jr smith and mash. smith was the 18th pick i believe and is lighting up the summer league. H e has more than 1 game with over 30 points. Also he is a great 3 point shooter and a great leaper. if that is the case then i do this trade in a quick second!!

wally for jr smith and mashburn

pg-cassell/hudson/stepp
sg-sprewell/hoiberg/smith
sf-hassell/mash/ebi
pf-garnett/madsen
c-olowokandi/johnson]

i think if hassell is gone, we do a sign and trade with portland or denver. then i think we have to do this trade, just for the fact that smith is nba ready and we can hope that mash is healthy. I dont want to have to hope that wally will stay healthy for the whole season and not have hassell around. then we are forced to play ebi.....I dont want that.

a sign and trade could work with denver at this point, hassell for nene, instead of one of these teams offer him a max mle. There are sign and trade talks right now with the wolves and nuggets. I am sure it would send nene here. so once again if that happens then we are forced to do that hornets trade also.

pg-cassell/hudson/stepp
sg-sprewell/hoiberg
sf-mashburn/smith/ebi
pf-garnett/nene/madsen
c-olowokandi/johnson

This all happens if hassell signs an offer sheet or something or we agree to a sign and trade. sad but true, i think we actually are a better team. mash is 6'9", then have smith come off the bench draining 3s and dunking on people.

If the nuggets wouldnt trade Nene for Kenyon Martin, what on earth makes you think they will trade him for Trenton Hassell?

I was also under the impression that the New Orleans trade was offered to us prior to the draft, and we declined. If we had done the trade, I would have liked us to draft Jameer Nelson instead of JR Smith, anyway.
If both Wally and Mash are completely healthy (big if) then i would do the trade, since the salaries are about equal (mash makes a tad more) and Mash has only 2 yrs left, wally has 5.

I am pretty sure 3 first round draft picks are way more valuable than nene. I dont think the nets wanted nene. Plus their salaries are wayyyyy diffrent. They need a sg more than a pf anywayz at this point. The nuggets also have said that hassell is their number one priority and there is no plan b.

with hudson coming back then there is really no point to take nelson. we just need a reliable 3rd string pg like stepp or mcleod. Smith is proabably the most nba ready out of all the high schoolers taken in the draft. Who do you guys expect us to play next year if hassell leaves and wally gets injured again????NDUDI EBI?? we cant take a risk on that now or else say hello to the lottery.JR smith will probably be the best high schooler out of this draft when it is all said and done.

If the nuggs want to trade us Nene for Hassell, I am all for it, I just don't think it is very likely.

I dont consider either stepp or mcleod exactly reliable. Hopefully one of them can improve enough to prove me wrong.

If that trade with new orleans is still out there, and mashburn has a clean bill of health, I am all for the trade.
If we lose Hassell, i would expect us to use all or part of our MLE on a player that could replace him. So, if wally gets injured again, we should have a replacement better than Ebi. Maybe someone like Darius Miles?

i am pretty sure that neither one of these guys (world or mash) will not play more than 70 games next year. Smith would be a great fit for the wolves. A better fit than wallly, mash can give us some good size for the 30 some gams he would plays.
