Can the T'Wolves get rid of Wally?
Hassell is staying here, that is for sure. But his contract might be too much, but as long as they nabbed him from Portland.
Then Wally will have a less playing time, because the Wolves won't pay that much for Trenton if he gets so little playing time.
I want to see him and his fatty contract go, to relieve the cap space problem. Rumors swirling around, you know about that yesterday.
When will Troy Hudson ever sign? Is there something that the commissioner wanted out of us?

i bet wally is already packing his bags just in case. A trade that could work would send wally to new jersey...the wolves get aaron williams/jason collins and loucious harris. So this would end up being our lineup next year. assuming we get williams.
pg-cassell/hudson/stepp
sg-sprewell/harris/
sf-hassell/hoiberg/ebi
pf-garnett/williams
c-kandi/johnson/madsen
I think this is for sure done if we lose hudson. Harris would be a great backup pg for cassell and/or hudson. Hoiberg moves to the sf position. Williams can play both the 4 and 5. I say why not.

I'm not the biggest Wally fan around, but I do appreciate that he's got some talent and is worth more than some backup guys from other squads. To be honest, I don't see where we have any problem as far as PT goes. There are 144 minutes to split up between the PG, SG, and SF positions. Sam, Spree, and Wally should all get right around (or slightly more than) 30 min/game, while Hassell and Hudson check in around 25 min each. Hoiberg is the perfect player to have in reserve to fill in should any of the regular rotation get injured or in foul trouble, or he could fit into special situations. I think that just gives us a deep team, but one that should be able to coexist fairly well...

Yeah, his contract is one of the fattest load of craps I've ever seen. What were the Timberwolves thinking when they re-signed him a contract extension?

Yeah, I've seen it. But if he's contributing its not necessarily a terrible thing. Just means you've got a good player locked in for awhile. Where it becomes burdensome is if he's hurt all year again. But on a squad that'll never be near under the cap as long as KG is here anyway, it doesn't really hurt us as far as who we could get. And Trenton's contract may be long, but its for less than the league average, so its not like its extremely large.
Add that to the fact that Wally and Trenton are 2/3 of a 3 man rotation for the SG/SF position, that Wally (offense/shooting) and Trenton's (defense/athlete) games mesh together well, and that the 3rd man in that rotation turns 35 this year, and it could be very smart to have both locked up long term.
That is, unless somebody offers something good for Wally, then maybe you take it and run...
