NEW rumored MIN/NYK trade!!!
according to the st.paul pioneer press the wolves have been talking to the knicks about trading wally szcerbiak, who is from new york, for kurt thomas. I bet there would be fillers. maybe a michael olowokandi and nazr mohmed, i think some toss ins would also be there. but the core of the trade would be thomas and wally...
wolves trade:
wally szczerbiak
michael olowokandi
ervin johnson
future 2nd round pick
wolves get:
kurt thomas
nazr mohammed
shandon anderson
knicks trade:
kurt thomas
nazr mohammed
shandon anderson
knicks get:
wally szczerbiak
michael olowokandi
ervin johnson
2nd round pick
trade accepted
this trade greatly improves the wolves. although anderson has prfobably a worst contract than wally does, he is a good role player, can score and defend.thomas can start at c or be a backup at pf. then that would put nazr at the starting or backup center position. We lose wuite a bit in this trade. But this is the only way i see the knicks accepting the trade by getting some cap relief in erv and losing anderson's huge contract which he probably isnt worth any more. I do think this trade brings us over the top.
pg-cassell/hudson/stepp
sg-sprewell/hoiberg
sf-hassell/anderson/ebi
pf-garnett/thomas
c-mohmaed/madsen

I don't think I would do it. Thomas is an undersized player to play post, and overpaid just like Wally, and older. Nazr Mohammed wouldn't be bad, but I don't see the Knicks letting him go that easily. Ervin Johnson will provide good contract relief after this season, so I don't see us giving him up for a longer term deal and an overpaid player in Shandon Anderson.
No from the Wolves.

if this team is going to win a championship this is the trade to do.we need the toughness of thomas and mohmmed. and a guy who will know his role in anderson.

you're wrong there. wally definitely doesn't blow, and i love big erv. there is absolutely no reason to commit to this trade. with the signing of googs we have another forward to give garnett some rest. googs and madsen will be fine as the backups, we don't need thomas or muhammad, because our center situation is fine where it is. the team should stay as is. no reason to change what will be the number one team in the league. our lineup is ridiculous.
PG- Cassell, T-Hud
SG- Hassell, Hoiberg
SF- Spree, Wally
PF- KG, Googs, Madsen
C- Erv, Kandi, ???
name a team that can match us pound for pound, player for player...our team lineup runs at least 10 deep.
bringing in nazr and/or thomas doesn't make us any better. we have a 1-2-3 punch in the starting lineup and from the bench. we are solid at nearly every position and while center remains the spot where we would need help...when in our franchise have we had a good center??? do we really need one with the lineup already installed??? absolutely not!!! i pray that the wolves keep the team as is, and make a few small signings to fill out the roster. find a weakness on this team. i dare you.

while rasho is the best we've had...he isn't really THAT good. in relative terms...he is simply average. nothing more. nothing less.

Timberwolves are always plagued by lack of talented center. In the early years, they got so many bad lucks in the lottery, they wanted to draft Shaq at #1, and always went up to #3, 4, or 5 but never get the first pick like they dreamed.

Count the new guy among those against this trade. I think the players we'd be giving up have more talent, more size, and (outside of Erv) are younger than what we'd be getting back. And while I'd like to have a player like Thomas or Nazr at the right price, I don't think either of them are pieces that would put us over the top. In fact, I agree that we could already have the folks in place to win the title. And if we do make a move to improve, I definitely don't think this is it.

well now its wally for thomas and norris which i dont like because we have hud and sam i am and i want stepp on the team. Then we have to rely on ebi being our backup sf.
