11/23/04: Sonics @ Wolves

ok there hasnt ben been many game threads and it is making me mad..(no special moderator stuff)

WOLVES STARTERS
PG- Sam Cassell
SG- Latrell Sprewell
SF- Wally Szczerbiak
PF- Kevin Garnett
C- Ervin Johnson

SONIC STARTERS
PG- Luke Ridnour
SG- Ray Allen
SF- Rashard Lewis
PF- Reggie Evans
C- Jerome James

Well here it is. Wolves are benching kandi for some odd reason. Allen is sick and didnt practice yesterday. Wolves have just come off a huge win against the mavs where kg hit the 2 game winning free throws and trenton hassell shut down stackhouse in the closing seconds. KG had 21 points, 17 boards, 9 assists, and 3 blocks. Seattle is coming off a loss against the Celtics on Sunday which snapped their 9 game win streak.

It is a battle between the top 2 in the northwest division. I am going to be there but I will encourage a chat here during the game.

prediction:
wolves 98-90
The Wolves are finally starting to click. The win yesterday is a turing point. The Wolves needed a game like that last game to regroup the chemistry. I finnaly saw all the players excited! Eddie G was jumping on the bench which was a good sign that this team is turning it around. Seattle still has to regroup because it is never easy to win again after your win streak ends. They just arent used to losing.

Seattle's bench is coming up big right now in the second, Radman and Daniels on fire, Danny getting to the line. They are keeping the Sonics in the game, as the starters aren't playing well.

Wolves are shooting lights out too (especially the PG's) and KG is just so damn good. Turnovers are hurting you guys right now.

Gonna be a close game...

An embarrassing loss.

So far this season we've played like crap. Our defense is horrible. Our offense isn't that great either. Players need to step up. Nobody is standing out right now.

Sure, KG is hurt and that may be a reason for his poor play. I'm just wondering why players such as Spree, Cassell, Wally, and Troy aren't stepping up their game. We really need a dominant force down low...Alonzo, we need you.

Defensively we are weak in the paint, that's what is killing us. Dribble penetration is destroying our defense and that's what is costing us games, that and horrible shooting by the entire team.

I don't know if the Wolves have a shot at the title anymore. Seriously. It's still early in the season, but if we keep up this play (which I'm guessing we won't) we don't stand a chance to win. A trade would help tremendously. We have no slashers, no dominant defensive force in the paint, and our key players aren't producing.

Give Fred Hoiberg more minutes, he's been the best player off the bench for us this season. His stats may not be that impressive, but he's been a big contributor.

Trade Wally and Kandi, even Troy.

Kandi's inability to step up and play consisten basketball is not what we need. Wally's inability to make open jumpers and play defense is hurting us. Troy's horrible shot selection is not helping this team, and his horrendous also hurts.

We could use Desmond Mason. A slasher who gets to the line more than any of our players (including Garnett). Plus we get highlight dunks every night.

Desmond Mason and Alonzo Mourning.

But since gettin these gifted players is not going to happen. We'll have to fight this season with the team we have now.

Man, look what this loss has done to me. Made me change my whole view on the Wolves. Hopefully they can prove me wrong and get a little win streak going.

Troy did his part last night i dont think we were watching the same game. Nobody knows their role on this team right now.

So what you are trying to say, mason and alnzo will get us on the winning track again? Yeah right. The last thing we need is another guy to demand shots. Erv and zo are about the same ball player, but zo demands it down lo.

As for mason, spree is the same kind of player. We dont need mase. Trenton will do the same if given shots.

It is too early to panic. Guys need to fit into their roles, preferably spree, sammy, kandi, and wally are the guys causing all the trouble. Once those guys are consistent and we all know what to expect out of them, we will be set.

Our major problem though is defense. We dont need down lo defenders. We need perimeter defenders. Wally and sam cassell get burned every time. Spree and hassell do good and that is a plus. But if we need anything downlo, it will have to be shot blockers. We have um but they arent showing greatly. I was expecting kg to be a better shot blocker but give him 1 pump fake, he isnt even going to swat a fly.

Overall, it is going to take time. Just like lat year.

OT: Hassell has been practicing his 3's. I was watching him for the last 3 games and all his pregame shots were behind the arc. maybe some thing good?!

I'm sorry, but everything that you post is downright horrible. Sorry. No offense, really.

Desmond Mason and Sprewell the same players? Right now Spree is playing like an old man, which he is, and Desmond Mason is making his mark as sixth man, though he is probably going to be starting the rest of the season if he keeps up his excellent play.

Do you even watch Alonzo play? His defense inside the paint is amazing. Something we don't have and that is something that is hurting us.

Troy is hurting us bad, his offense overrates him as a player, other things such as: is horrible shot selections - takes a three point shot EVERY SINGLE TIME the clock winds down to zero, plays horrible defense - too jittery and can't keep up with his man, and turns the ball over in key situations.

Zo demands the ball down low because he is on the friggin NETS!
Who else is going to shoot? RJ? AND, he doesn't even shoot that much for being on a crappy team. Zo is a veteran who wants a ring, he'll know his role and take high percentage shots (putbacks/layups/dunks). I'd much rather have a center who demands the ball who can make his shots rather than have a center who demands the ball and misses (kandi), and we do realize Kandi is the biggest blackhole in the league.

Sorry sheef. I've had school work up the *** this past week, and I've only been posting game forums in the Spurs forum. MY apologies. I'll get back on track now.
