Game Thread: Minnesota Timberwolves @ Los Angeles Lakers
January 19th, 2005 - 9:30 PM (Central Time)
Minnesota Timberwolves (19-18) @ Los Angeles Lakers (20-16)
Last Meeting: Lakers 105, Minnesota 96
Projected Starting Lineups:
Reserves:
The Lakers, of course, are without Kobe Bryant, so the Timberwolves should have a better shot at winning this one than they did on January 10th. Sam Cassell is listed as questionable eveywhere I looked, and since I didn't include him in the game thread, he'll probably play. The Lakers have played pretty well since Kobe got injured, so I don't expect the Wolves to pound LA, but I do expect them to win a high scoring game.
Prediction: Minnesota 110, Lakers 106

Without Kobe playing, the Wolves better win.

SPREE! 5 seconds left still and he jacks it up from that far away? probably sounds a bit odd, but kg has hit a couple of threes in crunch time before and only had chucky atkins or somebody else small on him.

Well KG was on the perimeter and it looked like he was waiting for someone to pass him the ball for the three point shot but the execution was pretty bad...this team really really needs to make some trades and get the defense working.

Sprewell got his money's worth of shots tonight.
Minnesota really needs a center. I watched mostly the 2nd half of the game, and the Lakers were just strolling to the lane for layups. That's inexcusable. Anthony Carter had a good statistical game, but he got torched by Atkins, and didn't run the offense well at the end.
The defense was bad, very bad, and at this point it appears only a trade will bring in help.

Yeah i dont get what spree was trying to do there. If we dont get a center soon, we will be picking in the lottery this summer.

On why Spree shot that 30 foot 3 pointer: I think the reason he hoisted that one from that distance was because LA had a foul to give and was probably going to use it. Meaning the Wolves would have to draw up a quick three with 2 seconds remaining. He had a good look too.
Yeah, I also saw KG on the perimeter waiting for the pass...and yes, he did have a small guard on him. So he would have definitely got a clean look at the three.
I'd have to totally agree with Koko on what he said. At this point, after making all the possible lineup changes and rotations to the Wolves...only a trade will help this team. Our interior defense is horrible, as is our perimeter. We don't know how to defend the lanes. We don't have any discipline, jacking up threes all night knowing that we've been 2/30 the past two games.
I don't know why I came back to these boards, I said I was going to go away but that two game win streak brought some life...only to have it taken away again....

I was looking for the ball to go to him, and I figured it was defiantely gonna when he got a guard switched onto him.
The past 2 plays were just horrible, both coming out of timeouts too. On the first we throw it around the top, and then finally get it to Garnett with 15 seconds left, he takes an impossible shot and it rattles out. I knew the zone was coming, I don't think Flip did though. And the last play was just as stupid. I've always defended Flip, but it's beginning to change.

Damn! I watched the last quarter of this game on TV and thought that KG and the T-Wolves were gonna beat the Lakers in LA. At times, KG is just so incredibly dominant. At the end of the game, I was kinda wondering how LA won this one as it was close down the stretch. I really thought that the Wolves were gonna win it.
