Since I live in the cities and being a Rockets/Wolves fan, I always somehow get Mike James brought up in conversations. Also when I go to Timberpups games, I get to talk to a few people who have seats around mine.
Well I have heard so far nobody is happy with James. He is shooting too much, not enough passing, bricking up shots, and is useless. Everyone seems pissed about his contract and knows that he can’t be traded (In theory)
Also when I was leaving the Wolves/Clippers game on Saturday night, I walked by the big painted wall with KG, Davis, James…etc right before the entrance to the Skyway. And heard a lot of people pointing at James and saying this guy sucks why did we get him?
I do watch a few Wolves games here and there, but not enough to really say he sucks on the team.
What do you guys think? I am curious as to what you have to say since really when he was a FA, it was Houston or MN...

Really haven't heard any of that. If anything he's not shooting enough, passing too much. He's being counted on to score 18ppg minimum this season, yet went two straight games without a single point. I really haven't heard much complaining about him either, even though there certainly should be. It would be foolish to give up on him though, I don't think that's even a consideration. As far as I see it he's just not playing well right now. If this continues for another month then there might be a serious problem.

He is not shooting nearly enough as we need him to. He knows he can create his own shot, it is just that he doesn't. I love when he decides to shoot the three, because noone else can on this team. He is awsome in transition too. When he was slashing early in the season it was all fine, but he gets lost in the system. Casey needs to learn how to incorporate James in the system...Sort of like a Payton and Kemp combo...
I mean I am not upset with James, I am just expecting more. I am expecting him to just break out one game.
i'm totally surprised. i haven't thought of mj since the offseason but when i caught that he went scoreless in a couple of games, i found myself at a loss. the mike james that i know does not go scoreless.
honestly, i may be among the few raptors fans who feel this way, but i like mike. i always have. he's got an engaging personality when he's winning and he makes himself an easy target when he's losing, but i think he's a quality pro in this league. i found charles barkley to be the same way- i'm obviously not comparing charles to mike, though, just drawing parallels between their unique personality types.
the more i think about it, though, the more my theory comes to light: mike james in minnesota this year is in an entirely different situation (both on and off the court) than it was in toronto last year. it's like he went from one extreme to the other, you almost couldn't conceive of opposites that are more extreme, so i guess it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility for him to suffer through an adjustment period to begin the year. for one thing, toronto didn't have much of a leader last season- and mike dove into the available role. some could compare chris bosh to kevin garnett, maybe, but chris was still 9 years younger than mike james, and was/is still developing. this year, mike finds himself on a team with a developed leader, a future hof'er- so there's probably no room for the same 'character' in minnesota. he has to adapt, and that's sure to take some time no matter who you are.
but rest assured: the man has game. if he ever gets comfortable as the primary complementary piece around garnett, he'll prove to be an excellent acquisition. he plays defense rather well, he doesn't take plays off (even in the most boring of sequences) and he cries to win. his problem is toronto was that he didn't 'defer' enough of the time, especially late in the year when it appeared like he was padding his stats, but i'm of the opinion that he was forced into that role since the rest of the team had already checked out for the offseason. i'd love to see this guy play in meaningful games- because if he's anything, he's an entertaining player who brings an exciting roller coaster with him wherever he goes. and i like his "roller coaster": it's not a terrell owens or steve francis ride. rather, it's a ride of passion, focus and fun. my kind of ride.
but zero points? that's not mike james. he must be eating his liver today.
no idea what has been going on with mike... we've had some close games, he should be stepping up and scoring a lot towards the end of those games.
he's here to shoot, and score... hit big 3's and dish out a few assists while hes at it, not here to get out played by Thud.
james has gotta get his shot going, 0 points?? twice? he's here to help us win... but he's definately not doing it when the main thing he was brought here to do.. he just isnt doing
Memememe, it was a mistake from Banks to go, i mean, why does he want to be a 3rd option for PG in Phoenix, when he could have been 1st in Minny. Well i'll tell you why, money talks. But thats enough of Banks, lets talk about James.
I think that he has to get used to the new team, as Ballocks said, but the thing is that KG doesn't have the time to let James get cumfy, but it's propably too late to regret that anymore.
Wolves gotta play James now, they don't have afford to bench him at this point, and i mean it literally.
One other thing has been bothering me also, why Smith isn't a starter?
James pg
Davis sg
Garnett sf
Smith pf
Blount c
This i hope is the starting lineup, at some point this season, put Foye to PG and it's perfect lineup.
I'd rather run Smith at PF if we had to run both of them. My favorite line-up though is as follows...
James
Foye
Jaric
Garnett
Blount
We have a very balanced set-up. Position 1-3 can move the ball very well throughout the floor, and score when needed. Jaric is playing well on the defensive side I think he's out starter at SF. Ricky belongs off the bench becoming the guy who is creating the tempo for the second unit. Hassell, Smith, and Hudson do what they do. I hope Griffin gets some PT soon :-\

james just needs to do what he was brought here to do...
drive n dish, and hit outside shots..
15+ ppg, 5+apg ... he can do it, the talent is there, just need to concentrate on gelling with these new players in minny
