the new depth chart
What kind of rotation is Minnesota likely looking at now?
Something like...
C-Mark Blount/Eddie Griffin
PF-Al Jefferson/Craig Smith/Mark Madsen
SF-Ryan Games/Corey Brewer
SG-Ricky Davis/Gerald Green/Rashad McCants
PG-Randy Foye/Sebastian Telfair
IR: Theo Ratliff, Marko Jaric
Not too imposing, but some intriguing young talent to develop.
I have to wonder whether Ratliff and Telfair will ever see any real floor time.

Re: the new depth chart
Griffin was released a while ago
foye and jefferson are guarenteed to start obviously.
personally i would have
jefferson/blount
Smith/Madsen/Gomes
Brewer/Hassel/Green
Ricky/Mccants
Foye/Bassy
but i just want the young guys on the floor i think blount and hassel will both start the season.

Re: the new depth chart
Jeez, I spaced out on Cassell.
I agree with you on both counts...the 'Wolves should let the young guys out to run, but will probably defer at first to the veterans. But I would love to get Blount out of the starting lineup.
I personally think Jefferson is a more natural PF, but on the other hand he didn't really break out last season until he stepped in for an injured Kendrick Perkins in Boston.

Re: the new depth chart
I gotta think the roster will look a lot different when the season starts than it does now. Davis and Blount are probably gone for sure. I would imagine they'd pull the trigger on a deal with Jaric or Trenton if they could too. I'm guessing Jefferson, Smith, Gomes, and Foye will all start. Then maybe McCants or Green too.

Re: the new depth chart
Well, you can blow up even more this team and deal Davis with Jaric for the likes of Wally Szczerbiak or Raef Lafrentz (plus some draft rights of their unsigned picks, like Joel Freeland), both Wally and Raef contracts expire after next season. The good part is that it could give even more PT for the youngsters.

Re: the new depth chart
Hopefully there's some more moves to get a decent center but it's in doubt.

I don't think either team would get rid of those contracts. For rebuilding teams, cap space is more important than, say, Ricky Davis and Marko Jaric..
I wanna see how this 3 team rebuilding phase turns out..

How well is the Knicks Starters vs NBA Team Starters? 60%? 50%? 40%? or are we waiting to see by being optimistic because we have a new additional player in the Starting lineup that we assume Stat sheet record says he is better with this Knick roster than the guy he is replacing?

 oops
he'll be a good mentor for smith hopefully but theres no reason for him to get big minutes on this team, he'll play 3rd string behing blount, jefferson and smith.

Re: the new depth chart
Am I right in thinking the current roster is:
Blount/Ratliff/Madsen
Jefferson/Smith/Howard
Davis/Brewer/Gomes
McCants/Hassell/Green
Foye/Telfair/Jaric
Not in that exact depth or rotation, but those are the players currently under contract.. Plus Chris Richard, and Bracey Wright, neither of whom currently have a contract.
Out of those, you can discount Ratliff's minutes. He'll be on the roster, but he won't play.
It's safe to assume Brewer, Gomes and McCants all see decent minutes.
Green will probably see time too, at the 2/3.
Foye will definitely see big minutes.
Telfair probably will, unless a deal is swung for another pg.
Jaric probably won't play.
Jefferson is guaranteed big minutes.
Craig Smith will probably see some time too, though perhaps less due to the arrival of Gomes.
Davis and Hassell are still capable of earning/playing decent minutes, but are the prime candidates for being traded.
Blount could stay, as the only true center-sized player on the roster. However, he could also be traded.
Juwan Howard will probably stick, as a mentor. He can't be traded for a few more weeks anyway, right?
Madsen sticks. He's just great.

Re: the new depth chart
Actually, the rotation of bigs is so shaky that I could see Juwan getting some serious floor time. By mid-season or so, it may become apparent that, limited as his game is at this point, he's a more productive option anyone but Jefferson, which could mean Big Al spending some time in the pivot. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if Howard ends up being more serviceable than Ratliff, and more consistent than Blount.

Re: the new depth chart
I had forgotten about Howard.
To me, Jefferson should start at center and Smith (or Howard) at PF to try it. Why not? The West has better PFs anyway, keep Al out of foul trouble and he can still bully centers.
