Juwan Howard bought out
http://www.startribune.com/wolves/story/1512479.html

The Timberwolves negotiated on Saturday to buy out the contract of veteran forward Juwan Howard, a move that once finalized will get them to their 15-player roster limit by Monday's 5 p.m. deadline.

Howard provided the Wolves with a list of five teams for whom he'd like to play. But unable to make a deal for assets commensurate a player due to make $6.88 million this season and $7.37 million next season -- the two remaining years on his contract -- team officials will pay him a portion of his money due and release him so he can sign with any other NBA team as a free agent.

Re: Juwan Howard bought out
I don't think the league should allow buyouts. It allows some other team to circumvent the salary cap by getting someone who is being paid by another team and only requires a minimum exception slot from their new team. Its a rich get richer deal. Watch -- he'll wind up back with Houston, or with Phoenix, or maybe Detroit or Cleveland. He won't go to Charlotte or Washington or Milwaukee.

But the team that gives the buy out usually causes their own problems by giving a player more than they are worth... then when they no longer fit into the teams plans they are un-tradable.. im certain we would have tried to unload juwan but their were no takers for his salary

His contract was not THAT BAD... In fact, I think that Cleveland would've taken him for Donyell Marshall, just for an example.

Re: Juwan Howard bought out
it was 6... then 7 mil wasnt it?
regardless we werent going to get an expiring for him, it comes off the books after next season and anything we could have gotten, wouldve been cut or gotten in the way of the young guys anyway

Re: Juwan Howard bought out
In Cleveland he would probably get the most burn, but I think Boston is too god not to join.

If Juwan had his preference i guarantee he would go to boston... its just a matter of if they hold out for a true C or PG from further cuts

Re: Juwan Howard bought out
Good riddance. He blew it by signing with Orlando instead in 2003 or 2004. I never liked him for snubbing us out with KG on our team. Bye bye Juwan, don't let the door hit you on your way out.
