Wolves '07-'08: Not that bad because...
(Choose one or two things. Hey, always look on the bright side of life.)
Al Jefferson proved beyond a shadow of a doubt he's a legit inside option--really one of the best post scorers in the league, with excellent hands, footwork and touch.
Rashad McCants proved he's gotten his athleticism back after microfracture surgery and is a scoring threat from the perimeter.

One thing, Rashad McCants really wasn't himself lately. He got to get his mindset together and try not to turn the ball over too much. He was not scoring as much as we liked in last few games. He needs to set his priorities straight first. Hopefully he can adjust his mistakes tonight or in the next game.
Big Al, I like him. He has a lot to learn but he's well on his way.

I think with Rashad, he knew he had to be the perimeter scorer, and so those missed shots coupled with his sense of responsibility were getting to him. At least that's what I've gathered from his and Wittman's interviews. But it seems Wittman was giving him the right message, which is, "hey, you're the perimeter scorer, and you're going to both make and miss shots. So shoot. And keep shooting. Just protect the ball."
While the players keep saying youth is no excuse (and they should say that), the truth is, it is. I think these kinds of collapses are directly related to the inexperience of the team. And McCants' slump might be tied to his inexperience as a pro go-to guy. But hopefully they learn from it all, and quickly.

Re: Wolves '07-'08: Not that bad because...
Yeah, this season is probably Rashad's first season as a full-time starter (minus 1 game so far). I don't know how it will take him to get used to that position. Maybe he is used to it by now, I don't know for sure. It would be extremely challenging for a young player to take the starting role in a such revamped team, with such new faces on the roster.
Right now, I wouldn't be too worried if he's going to be in a slump again along with the team's inability to finishing up games. They are searching for the right chemistry as a team, which they, unfortunately, are mightily struggling.

Re: Wolves '07-'08: Not that bad because...
The season is not bad at all because for the most part we are keeping games competitive. We have two great young players in Big AL and Shad, and once Foye comes back he should be a third bright spot. Brewer is looking solid as well.
The future is very bright IMO.

Re: Wolves '07-'08: Not that bad because...
Maybe this is the glass-half-empty in me, but I look at McCants and am glad that he doesn't stink like last year, but I still worry if he'll ever do anything but scoring. How valuable is a player like that? What will he be? A more efficient Jamal Crawford? We can hope.

McCants is alright. But I don't expect his flaws, turnovers and fouls, to ever go away.
Jefferson on the other hand is a great player. If he ever learns how to pass the ball he could be an elite player.
