Foye Cleared to Practice

Foye cleared to practice, some
January 7th, 2008 – 2:50 PM by Jerry Zgoda
Wolves guard Randy Foye, out all season so far on a team that has won four games and lost 29, on Monday was cleared to participate in practice for the first time since October.
Team officials, as they have since a developing crack on Foye’s kneecap was diagnosed during preseason play, continue to take a cautious approach now that a medical imaging test taken Monday showed the kneecap significantly healed:
Foye will be allowed in participate in everything – running, jumping, shooting — but contact drills and scrimmages for the next week and then can practice fully thereafter if his healing kneecap shows no signs of strain.

Re: Foye Cleared to Practice
It didn't say how much it has healed. 90%? He's still young and we're at bottom of the league and play him lightly so he won't getting any more setbacks. Anyway, I assume that we won't be seeing any actions on the floor from him for at least couple of weeks

I'd guess the same: a couple of weeks of practice, then a light return to action, either with limited minutes or a D-League trip.

Re: Foye Cleared to Practice
Yep, he's doing light practise and drills this week, moving onto some contact work next week, and is expected to see courttime by the Sunday (27th).

Re: Foye Cleared to Practice
Hopefully he will be 100%. He probably won't see too big of minutes until after the all-star break I'm guessing.

"Randy looked good," added Ryan Gomes. "His timing was a little off, but it's different when you get on the court. He still has his ball handling, strength, toughness that he's going to bring when he comes back. "Him being here, he knows what the coaching staff and the organization likes. We can't wait to have him back."

On when he might be ready for the next step:
Foye: To me, I think it's soon. If I get a couple more days in ... I actually don't even know. It's whenever they want to throw me in. They could probably throw me into the lineup tomorrow. I probably wouldn't play, but they could dress me tomorrow. I'm just excited to get out here and practice again. From how I was feeling in October to how I'm feeling now, I feel like a totally new person.

Re: Foye Cleared to Practice
Good, I need some relief from this upset stomach over not taking Roy or Gay.

Re: Foye Cleared to Practice
I'm not relying on him to be the best possible pick, but at least a sound decision like Bibby instead of Nowitzki or Pierce. He wouldn't have made us good to start this year, and we're in the high lotto anyway so it's okay he had this injury but hopefully it isn't a theme (like Jordan who broke his foot and moved on).
There's a chance he could go off (like Wade or Drex) and be arguably the best, with like 20 PPG and 10 FTA per game that would really change the attitude of this team, plus "clutch," better D, and better passing.

Re: Foye Cleared to Practice
I think he'll be a billups lite.... a 17/7 career player whos great down the stretch of Games.
I dont think we'll get to see much this season though, at least not til very late
