I just want to say that in one of the most depressing seasons in the Wolves history (and that's saying something considering our history), the one shining light is knowing that we have a bonafied stud center named Al Jefferson who'll be manning the middle of our roster for many, many years to come. Props to Al for upping his game despite being the only real scoring option on the team, and in his young age, having to carry a team of bad players night after night. He still has his flaws but he's well on his way.
He's consistant at the very least... his rebounding and post scoring look great.
definate future all-star, and i can see he and Foye being a great combo.
I would like him to work on a couple of things:
Defense - the big one, if he can become a decent defender his value to this team goes through the roof.
Being able to play against other Centers: playing the 4 he can brutalise almost anybody, however when hes moved over to the 5 he seems to struggle, he is obviously a natural PF but being able to move him to center without losing production would be huge, especially with Craig Smith on the team.
get more assertive: Look at the rest of this team, he should be DEMANDING the ball, get in post position and call for it, not just put a hand up.
I would also like to see a bit more passion out of him, i know hes a quiet guy and thats cool... guess we were just spoiled with KG here
I agree. He's arguably the second-best player we've ever had. (You could argue Gugliotta, Szczerbiak or Marbury. Maybe--MAYBE--Tony Campbell or Christian Laettner. But you could just as easily argue Jefferson.)
He deserves all the praise that he gets. Like Mateo said, he's basically been the one shining light for the Timberwolves this season. The good thing for you guys is that he's going to get much better, and he's going to be a force to be reckoned with out West for years to come.
It's the other guys that are going to need to start producing for the Wolves. This his been a bad year for them with the KG trade and all of that, but I think in a few years, the Wolves will be back in the playoff mix. They just need to make sure they build around Jefferson.

He'll learn to play better defense, but he really needs to be more aggressive. He should be getting more touches and dunking on people's heads.
Therein lies the problem. Our only two guys who can legitimately play any PG are Telfair and Jaric. Of the two, Jaric is probably a little better at feeding the post, but neither is consistently good in that regard. And a lot of our other guys--McCants and Smith in particular--can go long spells sometimes without remembering there are other players on their team.
But Jefferson is going to have to become a better passer. I think that's even worse than his defense at the moment. He's just so easy to frustrate with double-teams. I'm amazed at how he can't identify and pass to the right person. Usually bad passers seem unwilling. Jefferson looks to me to be willing, but simply bad--slow to identify the correct person, and not accurate when he passes. It's odd. I can't remember seeing someone like that.
Jefferson is a beast. His footwork is amazing, he's an amazing offensive rebounder. His defense has been what I expected...Average at best. But McHale can work with him at that, and his passing. He needs to have a reliable scoring option with him so he won't face all the double/triple teams and his passing will look better, or just needs to get used to facing the double team, idk how much he saw that in boston since they had Pierce there with him.

If you're saying McHale can help with his passing and his defense, you might have the wrong guy. Perhaps the only guys who pass out of the post less are Kris Humphries, Gary Trent, Zach Randolph and McHale himself.

Oooops, lol I kinda meant to put the () around the Mchale part to tie it in with the defense. and then bring passing in there as something else he needs to work on.
