Good--and Surprising--News

Tom Hanneman, one of the Wolves' commentators, just said that Theo Ratliff is expected to rejoin the team next week in Minneapolis and begin practicing shortly thereafter. He is coming off a surgery to a torn meniscus. No word on when he'd actually begin playing again.

I'll be honest, I didn't anticipate him returning at all, between the team being so terrible, him being so injury prone, and him not being a part of the Wolves' plans and having his next contract to consider (and thus maybe wanting to get healthy to prove to some other team that he can still do it).

I believe that a healthy Foye and healthy Ratliff would have us well out of the league cellar, maybe better than three or four teams.

Re: Good--and Surprising--News

He will help on court... but also with mentoring the young bigs in training and off the court so it'll be nice to have him back.

Hope he can stay healthy and sign with a competitive team next season

Hope he stays long enough and plays good enough so everyone at the front office sees we need this kind of player for the future. I'm big on thabeet for that role.

Re: Good--and Surprising--News

It would be nice to have Ratliff back although it's not a long term, but that center position need at least more depth. It is not easy for Al to shuffle between 4 and 5, like it has affected him a little bit.

Re: Good--and Surprising--News

Tom Hanneman, Wolves announcer, said Theo Ratliff is going to try to return before the All-Star break.

Almost a month ago he said Theo will be back next week when there's no sign of him and should I buy that?

Because what he said almost a month ago was that Ratliff would soon rejoin the team and begin practicing shortly thereafter. And that is exactly what happened. (He wasn't saying at that time that Ratliff was about to start playing.)
