Brewer's Minutes
Against Denver last night, Corey Brewer got 8 minutes. And that is unacceptable unless he's sick or hurt. Sadly, it doesn't seem to be either, but instead the continuation of a trend that began with the new year. Maybe it's Gomes playing more aggressively, or McCants getting over his earlier slumps, illnesses and days off. But whatever the reasoning, it's bad reasoning.
The team used a high pick on an athletic prospect with great size and NBA-quality defense. He is woefully unprepared on offense, but guess what--he was woefully unprepared on the day we drafted him, so that's no surprise. In December, he averaged about 30 mpg and provided 7.2 ppg, 5.9 rpg and 2.3 apg. That month, he shot only 35.3%, which is just awful.
In January, his minutes have dropped to about 17 per game. He is averaging 4.2 ppg, 1.4 rpg and .8 apg. His time is basically halved. However, he is shooting 43.2%, which, while still bad, is at least closer to acceptable for a wing player (five more percentage points would be nice). (If he had shot that percentage in December, he'd have scored about 8.5 ppg.)
The fact is, we didn't draft an 18-year-old high schooler, but a college junior. And plugging him into the lineup will not cost us games--you can't double-lose a game, after all, they can only count as one loss apiece, which we're getting anyway almost every game.

Exactly, theres no reason to NOT play him. Especially on a team like the Twolves, what possible reasoning can there be to exclude Brewer from playing in games?
Btw, hows Brewer doing? Last I heard (about 2-4 wks ago) he couldn't hit a shot. Has this improved at all? How bout his defence?

Re: Brewer's Minutes
Everything other than his shot looks very promising, especialy his defence.
He did hit a nice jumper the other night though.
and i totally agree with you guys, there is no reason for him not to be getting more minutes, cant exactly hurt

He still can barely hit a shot, but he's sneaky around the hoop and along the baseline, so he could get a few buckets that way per game, plus several in transition. So then if he's a poor jumpshooter, at least it's minimized.
His defense has generally been very good, way above a typical rookie. He can't handle at the level you expect from a swingman in the NBA, but that should come. He rebounds really surprisingly well for someone so skinny. He isn't doing well from an objective standard, but as someone who understands the team's situation, his history and his potential future, I think he's doing just fine.

Yea I agree with that, he might not be doing great right now, but really Twolves fans shouldn't be worrying about him at all.
He should be averaging atleast 24 minutes a game though, and he should be "ready" to make some impact by next season along with Foye, Al Jefferson, and #1 pick (hopefully for you guys; as a Heat fan I hope not )
