Wolves at Pacers

The Wolves have won 2 in a row and 5 of the last 7. Hopefully we can just finish this season strong and prove that we aren't as bad as our record indicates.

Re: Wolves at Pacers

I'd say the Wolves have a decent shot at this one.

All this winning is going to knock us out of high lottery position, but I don't even really mind. I'm secretly hoping that we'll finish with the fifth worst record or so (very likely), then drop our customary three spots as other teams leapfrog us. Then, with that later pick, we'll do the smart thing and take Darren Collison or DJ Augustin. Yep, that's my dream.

Anyway, back on to tonight. The thing I am a little worried about is that Indiana has some good height all across the board: 6-9 Dunleavy at G/F, 6-8 Granger on the other wing, Murphy, Foster ... they've got about four starters as big as our biggest regular player, and more still off the bench (Shawne Williams, for example). I'm just hoping they fall in love with jumpers, as they do on occasion, and miss. If we're aggressive, we can take them in that situation.

Re: Wolves at Pacers

Minnesota is off to a more-than-decent start in Indianapolis. They're tied up at 19 with about 4 minutes to go.

Jaric has been very active, and Foye is hitting some shots. I love Snyder's energy ever since he joined the team, but his offense has been horrendous. He misses more layups than anyone I've ever seen ... except Telfair.

Re: Wolves at Pacers

Talk about a poorly attended game, though! I guess a struggling, PR-challenged Pacers team hosting a terrible Wolves team isn't a major draw on a Friday evening before a holiday weekend. Not even the homecoming of Randy Wittman can fill the seats...

Re: Wolves at Pacers

19-8 Pacers run makes it 38-27 early in the 2nd.

The Wolves have 9 turnovers already.

Ooops, gotta make it 40-27. Yikes, this is getting out of hand. If it doesn't improve soon, there are going to be serious problems. Indiana is 5-6 from outside the 3-point line at the moment. And the Pacers are getting ahold of most of the loose balls.

Re: Wolves at Pacers

I'm liking what Craig Smith and Corey Brewer are doing since they've come in--and it's now an 8 point game--but McCants, while he's scoring some and being aggressive, is looking awfully sloppy.

Re: Wolves at Pacers

And right when I say that, McCants throws a great bounce pass from the top of the key down to Chris Richard in the deep post for a dunk. 45-36. (Dunleavy had hit a 3 the previous possession.)

Excruciatingly sloppy play by the Wolves and another Dunleavy 3, and it's 50-36. ****.

Re: Wolves at Pacers

The Wolves don't seem to be giving much effort, and the plays that you might mistake for effort are more along the lines of out-of-control stupidity.

I'm watching NCAA games instead. Forget this game.
