Most Likely Scenario
This thread is NOT for us to say what we prefer, but instead for you to guess at what the Wolves are most likely to do on draft day. Keep their picks and draft there? Make trades up? Down? Trade other players? Trade picks for players? Trade picks for picks? Let's hear your educated guesses. I will start off by saying this: the Mpls/St. Paul (and national) media has certainly made it sound like the Wolves are very open to dealing up or down, so either they're not 100% sold on their #3 choice (which you'd have to think is Mayo) or they're throwing out a lot of misinformation. In the end, my prediction is ... they'll draft Mayo at 3, but will package their second rounders into a late first. Maybe they'll even package a player--Walker's expiring is my bet, although if they go with Mayo, I could see McCants shipped out--with those two seconds for a higher first.

I'm a big Knick fan so I guess the draft is as exciting for you as it is for me, which is why I'm scanning lottery team boards. OJ Mayo is the guy we're gunning for but you guys will likely take him. In fact, what I'm hearing is a lot of teams are looking to trade up to take him. Of the trades I heard, none really improve your talent, however, so I think it really comes down to what you value as a franchise. Your not looking for veterans, so I assume getting out of bad contracts (Jaric, Buckner and Madsen) is the only thing left on the agenda for you guys.
In my opinion, Mayo is an upgrade over McCants. If I'm McHale, especially considering his job status, I make the splashy move and keep Mayo. I do not completely believe Foye can run the point solo, so a combo guard like Mayo would be a bonus. In addition to that, Mayo is likely to be the best player out of this draft off the jump and still has enough upside to warrant the move. My prediction is that you guys keep Mayo. It'll be the best move for you guys.

Re: Most Likely Scenario
Re-Sign Gomes
Draft Mayo at 3
trade the 2 second rounders for a late first (look at the guys we have been working out)
re-sign telfair
trade smith+mccants for the 16th pick + filler
sign O'Bryant
Not that i think all of these will happen, but probably 4 or 5 of the 6 i listed

Re: Most Likely Scenario
Wolves will draft Mayo. A deal could be worked out with Memphis, NY or Clippers though.
Either way, Wolves are in a good spot come Draft Time.

Re: Most Likely Scenario
something a little curious... is that Mayo had a "secret" workout with the clippers..
with Miami hyping him up as their number 2 pick i get a feeling there may be a brand for #2 or something on draft day, leaving beasley to fall
Meanwhile Beasley has measured in pretty undersized.. Rose hasnt worked out for miami which pretty much guarantees whos going number 1

Re: Most Likely Scenario
I'd like to see Mayo go #2 to the Heat, as they're trying to make it seem now, and Beasley falling to the Wolves at #3. Personally, if I'm the Wolves, I try and get Russell Westbrook at PG too. Or if Beasley does go #2 as most expect, take Mayo at #3, and try to get Joe Alexander to play the 3.

Exactly what he said.
In the draft I would look at Mayo, and either Hibbert/Ajinca. I really like either one of those guys next to Al. Hell if we cna get two more first rounders look at Robin Lopez to pick up the garbage.
