This is ****ing bullshit. Pretty much every fight from the UFC Calgary card was cancelled and the show went on, but Dana cancels this because of 1 fight?

Actually, when they offered him the fight! Jon said he had to discuss it with his coaches whom then informed him that it would be the biggest mistake of his career.

Jon was also the first person to completely turn down a fight, where as others like Anderson silva offered to fight on 8 days notice against a light heavy weight.

Also, UFC fans aren't the only ones giving Jon stuff for this but UFC fighters, like Diego Sanchez who is a teammate of Jon jones. And not only UFC fighters but the UFC brass and top dogs.

"Chael is completely different fighter," Jones said. "This is war. This is strategy. You have to go in there prepared and know that you did your homework. I wouldn't be the same warrior if I just jumped in there blindly and was cutting weight while I was trying to prepare for the fight.

"Greg Jackson wasn't going to show up until Friday. Coach (Mike) Winkeljohn wasn't going to be there until Wednesday or Thursday. I would have been pretty much on my own trying to prepare for a new opponent. That's just not the best way to prepare."

Thus far, Jones has endured a largely negative response from fans. The 25-year-old champion admits it hurts for observers to question his rationale, but he stands behind his decision.

"If this was my first fight in the UFC and I really didn't have a choice and they needed somebody to step in last minute, if it was that type of scenario, then I'd probably more open to it," Jones said. "But I'm a UFC champion, and I need to perform that way. If I would have taken this fight, that would have been letting my ego get in the way and not using my intellect. This is war, and you have to go in there prepared.

"The criticism does bother me, but I have to stand by my decision. I have to be the man that I am. With such large audiences comes great criticism. There will be a lot of scrutiny, but I've got to do what makes me happy and feels right to me. At the end of the day, I have to make the best choice for me and my family."

And now jones is an even larger favorite against Belfort -1300

Part of the MMA fight game is taking fights on short notice. With out Zuffa building the company up, Jon Jones wouldn't be the guy he is signing a multi million dollar Nike deal. Plus the history of guys holding the belt in the UFC is that not a single one has ever turned down a fight, regardless of the change of venue, fighter, or time frame. Jon Jones is the first.

Also keep in mind that Shogun the former Light Heavy Weight Champ was lined up to fight Rasahad Evans, but due to an injury Rashad sustained, Jon Bones Jones got the fight as a replacement, and thus went on to win the Light Heavy Weight Belt, not because he deserved it, but because Rashad was injured, and Shogun agreed to the fight with Jones. Prior to the Jones vs Shogun fight, Jones was coming off victories against Vladimir Matyushenko and Ryan Bader, not exactly the most impressive resume to be awarded a title shot. So Jon Jones has no room telling the promotion that any other fighter is not deserving of a shot for the belt. As Jon Jones has benefited himself greatly by similar circumstances.

The UFC slotted Chael Sonnen to fight Jon Jones, and Jones back peddled. That's all there is to be said. I've lost respect for Jonny bones Jones. I expect he will beat Vitor, but I'm hoping Vitor is able to reign down those punches on Jones before it's over.

Time to turn the page, Jones is now the biggest heel in the UFC ever! Putting guys like Brock Lesnar and Tito Ortiz in a much better light, as they never turned down a fight.
